A-League Men - The Finals

Tbh, you wouldn’t want anyone to see this.

I am seriously worried about the future of the competition after this season, even the NBL seems to be doing better than we are. I don’t know what options we had but going with Paramount in hindsight was a massive error imho

That’s a really great strike

Was that because of covid and the ACL forcing the season to be tighter? I assumed it would be two consecutive weekends.

They had no choice but to put these games mid-week. Player contracts run out at end of May. They did the best they could. They could have just made the semi finals a single leg and just had one game on the weekend but they’ve understandably taken the option to continue as planned and increase revenue at the same time.

Faghani keeping up his tough guy schtick.

What was Popovic’s grand final record again? Has he lost 3 GFs as an A-League manager and won 0?

0-4.

Lost three with Wests and our one with Perth.

I mean not just this week’s schedule but the way the season has been run. All of the other codes have had to contend with Covid also but they all seem to be flourishing while we are going backwards

The one that he loses for Victory will be the sweetest loss of all.

Most of our season was affected by COVID, there were so many cancellations and reschedules, let alone Perth/Wellington not being able to play at home, interstate travel bans and so on. Then City & us had to take 2 weeks off for the ACL.

I’m not sure what more could have been done. It was a complete mess to deal with, I don’t think it has turned out that bad. Attendance tonight was probably 7-8k, not bad at all for a Tuesday night. Adelaide got over 10k for their elimination final.

Yeah. I hate to say it but I’m siding with testament here. This season has increasingly been organised on the run. Covid cannot explain everything away.

So what’s the theory - APL want the league to fail? Or they just can’t be bothered?

It looks like a lack of understanding combined with a governance system that isn’t conducive to tackling the broader issues confronting the league.

I could be projecting my own opinion given the COVID interrupted season (including losing some of the usual best time of the season in spring and early summer) shitness of our home ground, and insipid squad and tactics, but it seemed that like myself, the league and broadcasters felt this season could quietly fuck off and let’s start again with a proper season next year.

Just a vibe y’know but it really came across like that.

End to end stuff so far

Lachlan Brook deserves an award for blatantly kicking Scott Jameson in the shins.

Very high xSH (shithousery) from both clubs

You’re just a fat Archie Thompson

Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense though. Are they saying Nabbout is going to put 5 past them tonight?

Presume xS is expected syllables? Isaias has gone from 3 to 5 and back again.
