We could’ve closed the GK down as it was essentially a drop ball restart. We just let him have it so he stood on it.

I’m pretty pleased with the performance overall but we did lose a couple of key moments which made the difference. The rest of the ALM should be nervous seeing us compete so well with the J-League leaders, and with a bit of luck and quality in key moments, could have won it.

Good effort. Very competitive against a superior team with a lot more match practice in their legs. We can take a lot from that game. I fancy our chances in the return leg.

We may have lost, but we certainly weren’t beaten. A little more defensively coherent, and if we take our chances a little more, we get a point or even smash and grab the three.
Whilst not getting the 3 points, not a disappointing performance. We can hold our head up high after that. Play like that at fortress Kograh and we’ll probably get the points.
Lads need to rest up, and head to Auckland. Show the new boys what being the best team in the league is all about.
