Nice to play an ACL dead rubber for the right reasons. This is a good opportunity to give someone like Quintal a start I’d hope and to ensure our first team is fit for the weekend.

Yeah I’d like to see some rotation here for sure. Got a heap of youngsters chomping at the bit. Hollman, Quintal, JK, De Jesus, Kennedy or Williams and maybe even a Middleton, Kamijo (is he still injured?) or Lacey. Plus you got fringe guys like Wood, Burgess and King that can step in just fine.
At the most I’d like to see the imports plus Caceras, Grant and JCP given a rest.
Away to the Mariners is always a prick of a game for us and we absolutely need to put them away this weekend.
Maybe something like this?
GK: HDM
RB: De Jesus or Kennedy
LB: King
CB: Gurd
CB: Popovic or Williams
CDM: Hollman
CDM: Middleton or Kamijo
RW: Burgess
CAM: Segecic
LW: Quintal
ST: JK or Wood
If theres a lot of doubt over Costa on the weekend, you could rest either Seggy or Maxy and use JK on the right instead.
I don’t know if I’d go for quite that much rotation, personally I feel there’s greater benefit to letting some of the young players fit into the squad and get used to playing with the first reamers rather than just playing mostly the youth team. Give them a taste of what it’s like to have some of the first teamers running the game to see what they can learn from them.
yeah you definitely don’t want to just chuck a whole load of youth straight into it. I’d probably keep the backline as:
Grant----Gurd-----Popovic----JCP
and then give more youth chances up the front. I’d also keep Klimala on to give him more chances to get used to the style of play etc. He’s shown good moments, he just needs to sort out his offsides.
Not the be the idiom pedant, but the original expression is “champing at the bit” as it refers to horses grinding their teeth on their bits.
I’d have Anas play in this, he’s suddenly equal second on the golden boot chart, he could get another here.
Mostly kids would be nice but you need a few old heads to tell them what to do.
Who is reaming who?
Hmm thats fine I guess, but you could still at least rest JCP. King is an adequate replacement for this game.
Grant’s played a heap of football and rarely gets a rest, so I thought this might be the only opportunity to really do it.
He’s dealing with some niggles isn’t he? I wouldn’t risk him. I think Burgess, Seggy and Quintal would be fine behind the striker for this game. You could always bring on a regular on the hour mark if you really wanted to.
He did say in a recent interview he’d rather be playing than training, and his whole deal is basically his engine. I’d rather rotate the players who can’t go harder than their opponent in steamy weather.
Talay would be bonkers not to rotate the squad a bit, with a game against Central Coast on Sunday.
The only thing to note as that you get paid extra per win in ACL2 so there may be a bit of pressure from up the top to get a bit of extra cash
I’d hope that we could still beat Kaya with a handful of youth players rotated in.
I think some sensible rotation would still be fine. We could handle starting guys like Kucharski, Gurd and King, at the very least. As long as we don’t go stupid and starting guys who are not ready for it.
Does anyone want my ticket for Thursday for free? I can’t make it.
Definitely if it is still available?
Easy win coming, at least 4 goals.
Sure, I’ll dm you.
Gross.
Oh wait I thought you said something else.
