ACL2 - QF - Sydney FC vs Jeonbuk - 13/3/25

Scoot return for $800 isn’t bad…

Yep, it came off one of the defender’s heels I think.

I would also like to express my fondness for this particular paradigm.

Oh look he’s gone for the push poke celebration and the soft cock has injured his elbow somehow. Well this is just pathetic play from the Korean club. It’s just a bunch of pooncy Premier League bullshit that they’ve introduced over the years and they should have gone for the kiss, lick, dry root or a grope on the arse. It’s certainly the most masculine and manly way of expressing a goal celebration.

See that Korean player getting up and close and personal in the ref’s grills. Amazing.

It was.

Over the past couple of months I’m now much more tranquil when I realise that either or all of the following is going to occur for about 30 minutes of all of Sydney FC games.
a) lose the ball quite a bit.
b) be hilariously compact
c) other teams are going to rip us apart on the flanks
d) be porous on the counter
e) concede goals

I’ve been banging on about this to my friends every time we go to an ACL game. It drives me insane, and honestly takes so much away from going to a game. Watching the replay while you’re celebrating is part of the experience.

If Rhyno’s touch to Alex Grant for the first goal was intentional it was a ridiculous bit of skill. It was hard to see but it looked like a half-volley dink with the outside of his knee direct from a deep long ball. It kinda looks like it might have been intentional too.

I feel like Klimala hasn’t got enough credit for the work he did finishing off that beautiful move Costa started. It would’ve been so easy for him to thump it straight into the defender.

Lion city sailors have some solid players on paper just looking at their wiki page. Guys with decent pedigree. 1st in the SPL and only lost two games in the league. Semi finals won’t be a cake walk.

Hopefully Gus Poyet raised it in the post-match presser.

Putting aside the analysis and the fact that we had the disastrous first half, overall it was a fantastic time at the SFS last night.

ACL games have such a great energy and when the first goal went in, the intensity just rocketed up and the vibe was so much fun.

ACL nights are a treasure to be a part of, crazy moments like the second half of last night are even more so. So glad to be able to be a part of this Sydney FC rollercoaster, would not trade it for anything.

For the stereotypical husky SFC supporter scoot+ is well worth the investment.

I did have a look and see how many scoot+ seats were available…

Yep, Bailey Wright and a few blokes straight from the Dutch top league.

Easy to be arrogant but they look strong on paper.

I didn’t get to watch either leg.

Whilst I know the score, I’ll be watching both legs replays tonight with a couple 6 packs and a takeaway pizza.

He didn’t, but was quite measured in his comments in the end. Noted that we were better over the two legs

I’m not saying that I’m personally responsible for last night’s glorious win, but the jinx remains undefeated.

At 2-1, were you thinking about the win-win result?

Absolutely, and at 1-0

Watched their two games against Sanfrecce Hiroshima and the gulf was really really obvious through the whole 180 minutes. Not to downplay them getting to this point but the tie did end with 7 goals scored by Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Sanfrecce on another day could’ve kept their head a bit better, showed some more urgency and easily had 3-4 goals in the away leg in Singapore. LCS were on the most part fairly overwhelmed.

LCS do have some handy players - Bailey Wright and Singapore NT captain Harris Harun were very good in the return leg and the two import wingers Rameslaar and Lestienne are quality on the ball.

Let’s just hope the SFC admin staff don’t serve up a Germain-level misshap.
