AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024 - Group A

With the latest stories to emerge from the juiced up Chinese swimmers, the Matilda’s are literally the only team to watch at this Olympics. Every other event can GGF

It was a pathetic showing by the Olyroos. It won’t get any media coverage, but that was dreadful.

As much as the Olyroos kinda deserve criticism, I also have to question how important the U23 bracket really is.

Some really puzzling selections, though. Patrick Beach hasn’t played a single A-League game for City, as far as I can see, yet he played every game for the Olyroos over Cameron Cook. JGR got no starts despite playing senior football all season. Rhys Youlley started two out of three despite playing not very much professional football recently (or at all). Mohamed Toure has played 175 minutes on loan in Ligue 2 but started two out of three games for the Olyroos. Garang Kuol didn’t start a single game, either. What is going on?

He needs to have been eligible to be chosen for a suspension to be applicable. Because he was on international duty against WSW it didn’t count, so it’ll be served for the next game.

JCP played that game no? How would he not be eligible to be selected for it?

sorry thought he had a two game suspension, just realised it’s a single one! Yes he should be available against Perth

While I was fine with what happened with Irankunda, given how amazingly toothless we were one wonders whether his x-factor might have helped. We shouldn’t have needed him, but still

Incorrect. The Newcastle game was before international duty started, as has been mentioned several times.

That said, who the fuck knows what the APL is going to come up with …

Australian teen sensation Nestory Irankunda has addressed his exclusion from Australia’s squad for this month’s Paris 2024 qualifiers, saying he would have liked the call-up.

“I did want to go originally, but yeah, [I] wasn’t selected,” the 18-year-old wunderkind bound for [German giants Bayern Munich] said at the A-Leagues All Stars kit launch at Marvel Stadium on Tuesday.

Teenager in shock 180° turn for no particular reason.

Just let it the fuck go media, it’s a total nothingburger.

Indonesia through on penalties against the Koreans. 11-10!

That’s wild. Perhaps we shouldn’t feel so bad about getting done by Indonesia!

Nah, if it was an unlucky goal, or Indonesia played significantly better than us, sure.

We were jus fucking dogshit.

Wow, Indonesia now get 3 cracks at qualifying for Paris. Win their semi and both finalists are in, lose their semi and the winner of the 3rd place play-off also qualifies, lose that and the 4th placed Asian team still has an intercontinental play-off against 4th place from Africa (Guinea).
