I like where he quotes the number of people that watched the AFL grand final. Old mate should have let him know how many people watched the last World Cup Final.

So something like 0.1% of the world’s population cared to watch the pinnacle of their shitty little sport.

What a bunch of cunts

It’s a historic and proud day for racists at the club to be recognised, that’s for sure. I’m guessing that there will be lots of talk and no action on racial attitudes at the club, or the AFL in general. Eddie McGuire would go far in the LNP.

that’s hilarious! It’s a historic and proud day… When a report is leaked to the newspapers 2 months after it was presented to him, revealing his club is a racist piece of crap…

They do live news feeds of some fucking AFL muppet quitting his job now?

If you don’t care that a racist bigot in positions of much influence is finally being held accountable for his actions …

Well, I don’t even know what to say to that.

Oh, f**k, the Maguires went to a private Catholic school. Is this like Rebel Wilson saying she’s from “the ghetto part” of Sydney when she grew up in Castle Hill and went to Tara Anglican School? And the guy’s a multi-millionaire now. Do I misunderstand what working class means?

Alright, they’re saying Maguire and his brother both got scholarships. I don’t know the details of that but am I to understand that the Labor Party, which is supposed to be a party for workers, is holding up a multi-millionaire AFL club president (former, I suppose) as their hero? Doesn’t literally every millionaire, multi-millionaire and billionaire argue that they worked their way up? Aren’t his kids now enjoying inherited wealth and privilege?

Racism in the AFL/who wants to be a millionaire impacts regular folks as much as racism on the moon.

Australia has significantly larger racism issues than this single, small workplace. Stuff like this is a distraction when we have taxpayer funded concentration camps, 200+ years of state genocide, blatant white nationalists in government (and Manilla) and the facist NewsCorp cancer destroying political discord (Greg Cunt) and turbocharging hate speech against . Nah, actually lets fix the Yarra River Dolphins first.

That should be a valid point in a reasonable world. But in Melbourne, that box-headed knobjockey has a huge amount of visibility and influence.

There’s also some good arguments in how the left in Victoria have a footy-shaped blind spot. They’re happy to alienate the other when it comes to Aussie Rules. Multiculturalim goes out the door to be replaced by the narrative of the good ethnic showing they’re good because they’ve adopted this Australian pastime.

Also, fuck Eddie McGuire, and also fuck Melbourne.

I’ll second that.

Sort of agree (Vic obsession) but sort of don’t. Still think its an immaterial distraction when their are enormous problems that get ignored.

One small workplace?

Whether you like it or not, Collingwood is one of the most important institutions in the country. The standards it sets or walks past signals a bloody large segment of the Australian population.

Maguire himself exceeds that reach with his role in the media. Taking him to task reaches an even bigger segment.

Let’s make no progress eh?
