I get the impression that this is a conversation Popovic and Izzo have had before. Popa’s reaction to losing 1-nil last week obviously wasn’t “Try to score”, it was just “Concede less”.

Depends. I know an Ali Reza we call Ali. I also have cousins where one brother is Mohammad Reza known as Reza and one is Ali Reza known as Ali and know an Alireza whose son is Ali. My guess is if he’s writing it in English as one single name he’s never known as Reza.

Journey with me as I try to figure out Shia naming conventions. Especially fun with a lot of Iranians who insist on giving their kids Muslim specifically Shia names but sometimes give them another Persian name. Like my cousin Maryam whose name is Anahita or her brother Ali whose name is Arman.
