Sydney
Perth
WSW

Two of our three main finals rivals at home to current token deadbeats, what couldn’t probably go wrong.

Right call in the end, but once again it shouldn’t have taken anywhere near that long.

Playing football in this weather is pretty dumb.

Top bins, lovely strike.

Some fine shooting going on here

Brazette can play football.

Sure can. Stoked for him to get off the mark with a cracker, hasn’t scored too many curlers like that, the chance in injury time more his bread and butter. Very capable of pulling that type of jinky run off, unlucky.

Wellington look dead.

We are going to really struggle to make the 6 the way everyone is playing

My comments re. Ccm last week continue to gain credence

They are worse than Wellington

Theyre fucken awful. Of course you have some sympathy for a team of batlers who continuously have to rebuild year in year out, but to go from the giddy heights of the last two seasons to this complete dogshit must be hard to take.
Personally hope they can bounce back since i.always kind of root for them, but early on this season i said they have the worst squad in the league and thats starting to come to fruition

So Melbourne City got a crowd of 3,569 on Friday night and Western United got a crowd of 3,993 this afternoon. Victory’s crowd didn’t look all that great either, but City’s crowd is alarmingly shit.

Theres a hundred reasons why tge a-league continuously struggles to gain a foothold in Australia’s sporting landscape. None of them have an obvious solution.
I thinl the main reason the competitons fucked though is the stigma attached to following it. Its one thing telling people youre a “soccer” fan but following that choice bit of info up with the fact that you support an a-league team is generally met with looks of bewildered disbelief. Im at the stage by now where i generally try to avoid it.
I genuinely think theres an embarrassment associated with supporting this competition. And i also think that of all the road blocks it faces, this one is the biggest

Or as someone who has been into niche music most of their life, “I don’t really want to talk about it to a boring normie like you, it’s too fucking interesting to ruin with your unsubtle, mainstream takes” is my usual rationalisation of the same situation

And over 9k at Preston vs Hellas on Friday night

Victory crowd was 8,206.

Our season average attendance is more than the 3 Melbourne clubs got this weekend combined and conditions looked fine (no rain, no crazy heat etc).

And yes two local clubs managed to get 9k down there.

It’s funny because the league in general is in an uptick but Victory and Wests are getting very acquainted with 7-8k crowds now.

Maybe it’s just us and Auckland now as the two biggest clubs by some distance?

First week of AFL wouldn’t have helped.

But fuck Melbourne

umm. I suppose it’s pointless to point out that we were doing fine until Rebecca Wilson and News Limited decided to remember to hate soccer and David Gallop killed active support?

Like, not destroying your main point of difference seems like a pretty obvious solution to me.
