Bye

Mariners

A) I feel like watching a football game this weekend, but
B) could I be bothered trekking into the city to see City vs Radelaide. I guesss there should be goals at least

I did a quick spreadsheet showing how the teams may finish in the next two rounds.

In the table GD is goal difference, Rank is current rank, Best R is the best possible table position at the end of the season, Worst R is the worst possible table position at the end of the season. Everyone plays two more games except Adelaide and Mariners who have byes in the last two rounds.

Auckland, Western, City and The Shame are all guaranteed a finals game. Us, Wanderers, Adelaide and Macarthur are all fighting for the last two spots in the top six.

It is still mathematically possible for City to overtake Auckland for top spot but City would need to win all their games and overtake the eleven goals GD whilst Auckland would have to lose all their remaining games (and one of those games is Perth).

If Auckland picks up just one more point in the next two games they are Champions in their inaugural year. I am assuming that will happen at home on Sunday in front of scenes.

Sorry did you get city and Western mixed up?

Apologies, yes I did. I will do a total rewrite soon. I blame Donald Trump.

But nobody knows more about A-League and spreadsheets than Donald.

I think you mean premiers

Also four teams in contention for the ACLE spot given Auckland can’t qualify.

Hope somehow City Football Generic aren’t too involved in the finals. Who wants to see empty seats.

How long before Wellington and Auckland complain about no Champions League…

Victory up 2-0 at HT. Macarthur really only one decent chance that half. Hard to see them getting three back.

Good result for us if they lose

Bulls V shame match is starting to get interesting

I’d prefer a Macarthur win.

If they can catch us from here we don’t deserve finals (it means they win the last two and we lose both, or 1D1L with a really bad goal difference.

Whereas every Melbourne point makes a respectable 3rd far less likely.

I always prefer a Melbourne loss regardless of ladder position. If we are good enough we will make it

A draw wouldn’t be bad for us. Better GD than both, practically puts Bulls out, and still gives SFC a chance to overtake Victory

Oh well. 2-1. Macarthur out of finals.

Can see Adelaide losing to City too, if so we’ll have stumbled in this time tomorrow and won’t even need a result from our final two games.

Uffy in!

If we lose tomorrow we’d both still be 37pts with one game left to play.

I think. So we’d not mathematically be in but we’d need to lose by 14 goals over our last 2 games?

That’s only 2 x 7-0 losses… you still have hope!

A wild Sevenish-Beers later…
