I see about 5 teams who will be competing for the final 2 finals spots and can’t really split them. Not entirely how it’ll play out, not confident! Think the Mariners will start slow and only start recovering end of the year.

Not confident in this because I spent most of the late rounds of the Aus Cup overseas and couldn’t watch, and Auckland are a complete unknown. Don’t think it’ll be back to back wins for me.

Biggest flop signing: Juan Mata/ Douglas Costa
SFC player of the season: Klimala

Player with highest number of Cards (Yellow and Red): Miranda
Random predictions for this season:

  • We go a whole season with no coach sacking- those with the means do too well, those doing poorly can’t afford it

  • One of the highly panned signings (Wellisol or the wikiless Acosta or Caicedo) end up top 3 at end of season player of the season awards.

  • Anas absolutely bosses it and seals a big move back to Europe in January. The replacement flops but Kucharski takes over.

  • Auckland/Wellington has a dodgy hand ball (think Henry vs Ireland) call in the first 5 minutes of the first deby. Becomes a fiery clash after.

  • One of Costa or Mata retire mid season.

  • Mariners go under mid season. Saved at the last minute

  • Theres no real standout team and when Macarthur finish with the treble everyone feels a bit confused

Only four more days before the deadline. Copy the template in the first post in this thread and get your predictions in!

With Charlesworth back in the fold, I fear I’m going to end up miles out with my CCM prediction at least. Then again, there’s one club at least per season that I’m radically wrong on!

End of season standings:

1: Sydney (fuck it, why not be an optimist?)
2: Melbourne
3: City
4: Macarthur
5: WSW
6: CCM
7: Auckland
8: Adelaide
9: Wellington
10: Western United
11: Perth

13: Brisbane

Grand final winner: Melbourne (fuck it, why not be a pessimist?)
Grand final runner-up: Sydney
Player of the season: Leo Sena
Player of the grand final: Teague, just as a spit in the face
Golden boot: Germain
Best new signing: Leo Sena
Best young player (U23): Teague
Biggest flop signing: Mata, spends half the season injured and the other half mostly off the bench
SFC player of the season: Leo Sena
SFC golden boot: Lolley
First coach sacked: Aloisi but there’s not many sackings because no one can afford the pay outs.
Player with highest number of Cards (Yellow and Red): Brattan
Random predictions for this season:

  • Quality on the field dips a lot. There’s a lot of very mediocre teams this season and I think we’re really going to see that.
  • The NZ derby becomes an instant classic and is a real breath of fresh air. All up Auckland prove to be the most successful club launch in years.
  • Canberra are delayed another season and the year goes mostly silent in terms of funding.

Bit of a random one, but if anyone has access to an up to date AI service, would be interesting to get it to run predictions as well. My mate runs a World Cup and Euro tipping comp and did it for the previous Euro Finals, it actually came a very close second

Nix tank, Auckland are dull, Perth are great, CCM drop to the pack. Firsts season with both Syd teams in the finals series ever. Mata doesn’t play much but he’s great when he does.

Surely I get brownie points for kinda unintentionally predicting this (even if its just a sponsorship thing - at the moment…)

Seems like there is a lot of agreement on certain predictions on here so I’m going left field for a few.

Non - sfc

  • Auckland are a surprise hit and make the finals but bow out the first week
  • WSW don’t fade away at the end of the regular season and actually make finals, but are gone first week too
  • Phoenix go undefeated at home
  • Kiwi derby is a raging success and sells out the cake tin
  • Adelaide to absolutely stink but still not get the spoon
  • We see a 6-6 draw
  • This season will set the record for most goals across it
  • Attendances and feelings up across the league but it still absolutely struggles for cash

SFC

  • We score the most amount of goals we have ever scored in a season
  • Costa tears the league a new arsehole similar to Adrian. Barely misses any minutes due to injury
  • Our porous defence costs us in the semi final
  • It does not pour rain at any home game
  • We win the acl2
  • It will be a fun and very silly season
