ALM Squad Speculation Thread 2024/25 (Part 2)

Well ASEAN won. Saw online that Sega got the assist for the ASEAN goal

Was an absolute beauty of a through ball by him.

Well if you want to get signed by a big team the best way is to score against said team. The next best is to get an assist.

Excellent. I actually thought he made a positive difference when he came in, brought a bit of stability.

That’s a lovely ball through from Sega

Wonder which United player ended up with Sega’s shirt… I see Harrison Delbridge, Kealey Adamson and Yaya Dukuly also got a run out.

Are the ASEAN All-Stars playing a second game against a big team???

Amazing scenes though, United got booed off the pitch after the game. Although can’t understand what people were expecting when they came to watch the 15th placed team in the Premier League. I mean they would have better competition against Brentford at this stage.

That just lost a Europa league final, played a dead rubber then flew half way around the world to play a friendly…

Stupid question, but has Sega actually been released? I thought his release was pending offers from Europe? Am I grasping at straws, but does that sound like he’s keeping his options open to stay here should there be no interest from clubs that could further his career?

I think he’s contracted till 30 June (I read somewhere thats when current year A-League contracts expire), but as far as I’m aware, he hasn’t signed anything, anywhere, despite rumours of offers from Europe.

He won’t be released as his contract expires at the end of the financial year.

More telling is that he has not re-signed, and likely has no intention to.

That’s a peach of an assist from Sega, perfectly weighted pass through the defence

If he’s waiting for a contract from overseas though, he’s not going to re-sign until he has confirmed there won’t be one, otherwise there will be signing fees etc. It’s more the fact that Kucharski and Burgess were also meant to have contracts expiring on the same date, but there was an official announcement on them being let go, there was no official Sega announcement was there?

Same was true of A.Grant until yesterday afternoon.

It’s also telling that:

  • last we heard we were still negotiating.
  • the club didn’t announce a departure along with everyone else leaving.
  • the club continues to feature him and CĆ”ceres on socials.
  • despite being free to sign a pre-contract since January he hasn’t yet, suggesting that nobody is enthusiastically and proactively offering him anything too good to refuse.

Remember when we let him go because of ZDJ :joy:

I would maybe suggest an offer too good to refuse would be an overseas one. He’s not going to be entertaining any local clubs until he confirms there zero chance he’ll be signed by someone overseas
