We did make a similar mistake back in 15/16 not resigning Janko and thinking Smeltz was enough.
That season, we lost Brosque for almost the entirety, and Smeltz, who the previous campaign had a similar scoring rate per 90 minutes to Janko, basically completely lost his mojo (so much that within a few years he was getting for Clive effing Palmer).

That is the biggest take away for me. The fact that he says he can play any of those positions is positive but also that he has the attitude that he’s happy to play wherever he best fits in with the team.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him interchanging with the other forwards during the game so that multiple defenders need to account for him, it could create some space and time for the other players.
A player of his quality should be able to be used anywhere.
You’d probably have a lot of luck using him as a false 9, or dare I say it, an inverted 9?
