ALM: United & Divided - 2024/5 United Round discussion

Have just heard Corica shout FORWARD on the sideline mic. Be still my beating heart.

Auckland are going to win the league aren’t they?

Just over one half of game away from P4, W4, 0 conceded.

If they win it I’d be happy for Corica.

Auckland good value for the lead here

You’d have to say that Corica is really only coasting on what he inherited, tho.

For some reason im entirely unsold on the Auckland will win the league thing. I’m on board for Corica doing well and a new team having good momentum to build fan base, but i just dont see it lasting.

Its all well and good while they’re sneaking wins. The true tests will come when key players are out and they have a few bumpy results. They’ve had a bit of luck and that’s not going to last.

I’m not sure about “sneaking” wins. It’s deliberate and obvious.

It’s just a fairly passive style of play. So it’s fairly easy to imagine teams might seize the initiative against them eventually and they will find it more difficult. We almost did.

But in this league? Other sides have shown it’s doable. Especially as new clubs. I think there is a certain wisdom to a counterattacking style in the ALM.

So is that it for Unite Round?

From memory it was only a two year deal, replacing the last two years of the three year grand final deal.

Can’t imagine the Govt or VenuesNSW would have been thrilled by the attendance for the other games.

Bring back the Pan Pacific Championship.
