Good old Soapy, a fine export from Scotland.

100% wins against everyone but the finalists. Third best team in the world.

You could even argue that us playing them, made them lift their games and prepare them for the later stages

Argentina celebrated their win against us harder than Croatia, they knew that they had escaped.

The only teams we could not beat are playing the final.
Sounds nice.

There are quite a couple of correlations with our current state of affairs and the #goldenjenerashen.
Qualied against a South American team and lost to the eventual winner. Yes calling it now. So Fuck the Fuck off Le Bleeeeeeehhhh!

Pretty sure it’s been said before, but this team shits all over the previous “golden generation.” At least for this World Cup. They did significantly better, with, on paper, significantly worse players.

I remember in the game against Italy, I didn’t think we would score even though we kept the ball for ages and did a lot.
This team felt like they could score multiple times and almost did against Messi’s Argentina.

SO we finish 11th in the WC standings. Colossal effort.

We all know that we actually finished third.

Qatar did well.

Qatar 32nd. Hook that into my veins

From memory, Italy created better chances than us even after the red card. No Kewell and no Emerton for that game absolutely killed us.

Amazing to see Graham Arnold ranked by L’Équipe as the best manager of the World Cup.

My french isn’t the best but is the second table ranked players of the tournament? Behich at third is huge

I think he was just the best Australian.

He also isn’t third, it’s just in alphabetical order.

that and by the number rating to the right, he was the 4th worst

I’m guessing they also rate Arnold’s performance higher because the average ratings of the Aussies wouldn’t have been that impressive.

Agree, though, that Behich was probably our best. Incredibly hard-working, and generally speaking was solid in defence and dangerous in attack.

Our starting team wasn’t better but I reckon this squad is better than the last two. I was looking at 2018 and there’s a half dozen that would’ve had no business near this squad.
