We got Saudi Arabia, China, Oman Vietnam and one of Iran or Japan

B it is

Great! The better group! Group B

Japan with us as always. Almost a west/east split in the groups.

A is all Arabic nations but for Korea. Feel for Korea. Good draw for us.

Group B should probably end as it stands at the start.

I would prefer South Korea and Syria to qualify from Group A.

Australia and Japan to qualify from Group B, and Vietnam to win the intercontinental playoff against whoever, don’t care.

Would have preferred Iran because they appear to be going through a tough patch if recent qualifying is any guide. Though it will be good to have nearly all matches at a watchable time.

Iran aren’t Arab. But yes a lot more travel if we have to if we were in Group A and if it was a middle eastern hub we’d be up against it in group A.

Were due a win against Japan as we havent beaten them since the 2010 world cup qualifications. Theyve won 4 and drew 3.

Our rivalry with Japan is always fun and its one generally built on a lot of respect for the other side and the games are always toughly contested and enjoyable.

Yeah it wouldn’t feel the same if we didn’t play Japan at some point in qualification. Always a scary game but great to watch.

Watching the other managers is fun. Shows a small glimpse in to the mentality and professionalism of said teams.

So any speculation as to what they will do location and schedule wise? According to wiki these games should start in September at home against China and away vs Vietnam. But it’s hard to see that working with mandatory quarantines all over the place.

This is where it’s going to be interesting next season. A-League players in the national team setup are going to be absent for a lot of the season.

Aren’t they going to try for more qualifying hubs? It would make sense.

I think you mean seafood hubs…
