Australian Professional Leagues - They can't be worse than the FFA... can they?

Is it?

Well, that makes it even dumber.

Can’t we just have 16 teams and a double round robin without shenanigans?

No argument there.

They’re relying on the Sydney teams fans to buy tickets so they can crow about attendances and what a success it is. NFI how that provides any ROI to DestinationNSW given travelling fans will undoubtedly be in the minority.

I have questions about this Unite round.

Will they be organising five-a-sides near the stadium involving former legends? And have DJs that will be playing at 2pm on a Friday (work) afternoon?

I’d guess Venues NSW somehow gets a cut from attendances at NSW stadia, even if part of the SCG trust, etc… maybe some type of small trailing management fee?

There is no SCG Trust anymore. It’s all under Venues NSW.

And venues NSW has just made a huge raft of redundancies losing massive amounts of experience in the process

Guessing that’s a no then…

Both us and the Nix have gone up a place on the ladder overnight because someone has pointed out to the APL that they don’t use goal difference as the first tie breaker on the ladder anymore, but wins.

Who knows why and when they changed that, no one noticed until a Nix fan brought it up two days ago on twitter.

Profffesional.

Incredible.

Probably the only professional league in the world who goes by wins as the first tie-breaker. Not something the league should be crowing about, to be fair.

I prefer wins or goals scored over goal difference to be honest. Who cares if you concede goals if you win. Wins are a much better measure of the better team - then goals. Every incentive should be provided to encourage more goals to be scored.

I’m with Leroy.

It’s about winning. Losing a tiebreaker on GD if you have more wins than the other team is as silly as wanting to buy a minesweeper.

I’d be happy with wins being the initial tiebreaker if all clubs played each other the same amount of times.
I think the fairest way to do it here would be going on the head to head result.

It is an incentive to try to actively win rather than try to snatch a 1-0 win late in the game

Hey as long as we can raid the seasteaders I’m in.

I’ll have to find out who bought them.

Then we can steal one!

Maybe get this guy to give you a hand?

You know, we’re going to need a sea captain …
