The last normal round of NPL football is this weekend, followed by 4 v 1 and 2 v 3 semis, and then finals. Here’s a summary of the changes coming to women’s football in NSW next season (not the advertisement at the top)
Aivi Luik has tested positive to a prohibited substance.
It occurred 2 years ago in Italy and is the reason why she removed herself from selection for the Olympics.
From the article I read there was no test
Seems a very odd case.
Western Sydney have confirmed that they are running women’s NPL teams next season. Tactically, it looks like they have timed it perfectly with the demise of NSW Football Institute and the changes to the club championship rules. Essentially, WSW can have their pick of the Institute girls (filling up to half their squad) and basically their pick of everyone else including kids in their Wonder Woman program. I can’t help but feel that Sydney FC have missed a massive opportunity in this sphere and will be playing catchup once Wests have established themselves.
When we do start ours, we will be knocking back so many players that want to play here.
I thought we’d already started, just not publicly announced that we’d joined the comp yet. The academy was set up 6+ months ago.
What i meant was when we start our path in entering the comp.
