Australian Women’s National Team Thread - Our best chance at a World Cup

I’m happy to stand corrected.

Surely?

Coaches turn down offers all the time for all sorts of reasons that aren’t FA treated Alen Stajcic poorly years ago.

Then why have we stuck with Tom Sermanni for six months when he was only meant to be an interim? He hasn’t exactly done much to justify being kept for that long.

I dare say the way Stajcic was let go would definitely put some coaches off. Especially when it seemed like he was trying to bring professionalism into the team. Any big name international coaches would be looking at that and wondering just how much control they would actually have. There was also the covert discussions on the Stajcic sacking which suggested they wanted a female coach to take over. I’m wondering if they’re holding out for this? Otherwise they’re waiting to see if any other coaches get let go I guess?

So, it’s all speculation then.

Pretty much yeah. The only known facts are that we have an interim coach that hasn’t been named as the main coach and he’s been in the position for a VERY long time. A pretty big negative as it doesn’t give him a mandate to sort out the national team. He’s just there to grind out results without making worthwhile long-term changes

The interim coach situation sucks, for sure.

Sir, this is a football forum

A bit of a chad. This reminds me when I worked some minor role at a bar & there were a few barmaid CV appllications in the office, all had qualifications & experience, referees etc. one of them had scrawled on top “give her a trial she’s hot” of course none of them had “I’m hot” on their CV but it was probably the most important barmaid qualification. Someone prove me wrong that “he’s a chad” isn’t an important unspoken requirement for mathildas regarding their new male coach.

What does Chad mean to you? I thought it was a vague comment on preppyness and family wealth, not hotness…

The Americanism, I’m led to beleive means “hunk” or handsome dude you know like Clooney when he was younger.

Wouldn’t have thought that was a prerequisite for the Tillies of all jobs…

Chad is a very positive description. The anti-incel if you will.

Kind, successful, charming. What one may describe as ‘easy on the eye’.

The top guy is Chad

Maybe some of the squad want fashion tips?

Aloisi is a snappy dresser.

I thought it was the way the incels expressed their resentment against those more successful than them… I’ve literally never heard it positively before.

Incels are incapable of positivity.

It may be it’s origins. That would fit.

The bottom guy is me.

Definitely used that way by a lot of people these days.

It’s a very weird meme - Can be used to express envy of someone who can live a normal life (how incels would use it), as a pejorative for a douchey guy (how I first encountered it), and then as a reference to quality behaviour (e.g a muscly gym guy who would help someone new rather than act superior etc).
