Bears don’t go into space.

Just pigs.

Say there was a way to have lasers shoot out of your eyes. For the sake of argument.

What would be the caloric requirement to do the sort of damage say, Homelander, does when he shoots lasers out of his eyes?

Imagine wanting to burn a few thousand calories so just lighting up an indiscriminate object?

120kg uni student’s wet dream right there.

I cant speak to Homelander but Superman is powered by the sun and isnt effected by caloric expenditure.

Couple of things here.

Superman sucks. And is an Alien. So fuck him.

And … the question was the caloric expenditure of the lasers. Even if superman is powered by the sun, there is still a caloric expenditure given that calories are a measure of energy.

Just like an electric car uses a stack of power going up a steep road and needs to be plugged in, you could probably shoot your lasers for a few minutes before needing to go through the Maccas drive thru and carbo load on a few Big Macs

Weird kink, but each to their own.

So, if we take this you need 2,000w.

Screenshot 2024-02-22 at 08-41-51 energy needed for a laser to cut steel - Google Search

And if

2000 Watts = 1719690.48 Calories per hour

And there’s 3600 second in an hour, then a 5 second burst needs …

2,388.459 calories.

So every time Homelander fucks someone up with his laser eyes he needs to eat about the average daily intake in calories.

And that’s before you get into the utter ridiculousness of so many different genetic mutations happening in the same evolutionary time space so successfully.

No wonder he’s such a cunt. He’s constantly hangry.

Supes are made not born.

That’s pretty impressive but I hope you’re not at work right now!

Assuming a Dr Crapper is the same calories as a Coke,

You’re eating two medium double quarter pounder meals just to laser for 5 seconds.

There are 1,260 calories in a Double Quarter Pounder® with Cheese Meal with a Medium Dr Pepper and Medium French Fries from McDonald’s.

A few things on this. There’s technology out now that will actually capture in any waste energy developed in the system. Are we sure this isn’t in use? Certain gases can assist in cutting and decrease energy expenditure, are we sure he’s not got some system in use?

Lastly, he’s obviously using some sort of organic laser system. We’re basing our calculations on synthetic lasers, potentially the development of organic laser systems require an extremely low power expenditure.

So a quick google gives me this. (yes, yes Quora)

Animals and plants are shockingly energy inefficient. Human technologies look far better in comparison (photovoltaics can be 10%-20% for example).

Photosynthesis is less than 11% efficient in the conversion of light to glucose. But you lose even more energy as the plant converts the glucose into leaves, stems, trunks, seeds, etc., dropping the net efficiency down to 0.1%-2%.

Photosynthetic efficiency - Wikipedia

Animals are less efficient than plants in comparison because we minimally eat plants for our energy. So vegetarian energy efficiency from light is far less the 1%. Carnivore efficiency is even lower because each animal in the chain starts at plant efficiency and drops the total energy efficiency further.

Without details, it’s relatively safe to assume that you can’t put a more efficient laser system in Homelander’s body.

If we make the waste energy re-circulation system in a human body, I dare say his hydration needs are going to move exponentially, he’ll need to drink a fucking lot of water.

Especially if we are using big macs as a power source. All that sodium.

I wonder how many frozen cokes you’d need to drink to get your daily water intake, let alone homelanders.

He could be getting his water needs through osmosis?

Probably about 8. Forzen coke has the same amount of water as a regular coke. So Homelander would probably need to have about 80 to support Paulska’s hypothesis.

So do all your evil shit in the dessert and Homelander won’t be able to get you?
