Members email just out…Barlow stepping down from the chairman role and the board overall. Not sure it impacts his ownership or signals anything more dramatic
Sydney FC has today announced a significant evolution in its governance structure with the appointment of Dr. Jan Voss as the Club’s new Chairman.
The move is part of a broader strategic Board restructure aimed at propelling Sydney FC’s international profile and forging high-impact global partnerships.
Dr. Voss is the President of Ferrari Australasia and an accomplished international executive.
Fluent in five languages—English, German, Italian, French, and Dutch—Dr. Voss brings a global perspective and deep experience in brand, performance, and strategic growth.
The Board also welcomes inaugural Chairman Walter Bugno, a seasoned global business and sports leader, alongside tech entrepreneur Sebastian Gray, whose expertise will further strengthen the Club’s focus on innovation, digital engagement, and sustainable investment.
Having the majority owner step back as chairperson is one thing, but stepping down off the board completely, and doing so without any sort of statement reaffirming a continuing commitment to the club is another.
Reading between the lines they’re looking for an exit…
Having Walter Bugno back in the fold can only be a good thing. Great to see him back.
I’m not overly concerned about a potential sale, with his divorce looming Barlow will have other priorities, we’re the most sellable team in the country by miles, between our success, consistent support and kick-ass academy.
seems like the Sebastian Gray fella’s Dugout company works with the likes of Arsenal, Juventus, Chelsea, etc for digital content. Wonder what that means for us.
They sold Dugout to OneFootball a few years ago, he owns some digital ad company and some kind of blockchain -based eco contribution promoter/tracker for businesses
The Members email about an hour a go , Barlow stepping down as chairman, Dr, Jan Voss taking that role, Walter Bugno back on the board as well as “alongside tech entrepreneur Sebastian Gray, whose expertise will further strengthen the Club’s focus on innovation, digital engagement, and sustainable investment.”
