Just confirms that they dont understand the issue. No one is left wondering “did that actually hit the hand” when they make a shit decision.

FMD. What a pack of turds. The game has a long standing rule against handball because you don’t want players going William Webb Ellis on you, or making a diving Suarez save on the goal line, and these officious knob ends give us this shit. An answer in search of a problem, just because we can. A pox on them all.
We just need to fit the players with chips, so when a hand ball is identified, we can access brain wave movements to assess whether it was intentional. That, combined with the snicko will eliminate all concerns over handball penalties… [/s]
Yeah it’s very strange. It’s pretty easy to tell whether it’s hit a hand via camera - snicko is more of a prompt if it has and should be checked by VAR. But that isn’t exactly CLEAR and OBVIOUS if it’s the tiniest touch, also what impact did that actually have?
Be interesting to see what the threshold is for overturning something, as last night’s goal seemed innocuous and not actually impacting the play. It also wasn’t really hand to ball, more ball to hand IMO.
Dunno if it would be technically feasible at a sufficiently useful latency, but a sensor in the ball detecting contact might be more useful to the on-field officials as a vibration on their watch or something? Assistant could be focused on watching the line and feel when the ball was played, everybody could more accurately determine who the ball last touched when it goes out from a ground duel, etc.
With VAR it can only serve to slow down the decision-making even further.
Without having seen the tackle, remember when they banned tackles from behind and a player would make a tackle from behind and get the ball first but still give up a free kick? ANd everyone would be like, he got the ball first? Because it wasn’t about getting to the ball first?
So no early game tonight, and I don’t have work tomorrow. For shame
This wasn’t a tackle. From memory it was a forward and the opposing goalkeeper racing towards a ball in between them face to face. Forward got to it first by sliding with an outstretched foot but the keeper dived at it head first and got clattered a bit in the follow through.
Turkiye Georgia
Talk about a cauldron
Portugal copping a screamer is just delightful after having less than 30% possession.
That Arda Guler goal was a bit alright.

I always forget how much I hate ronaldo… and then i see his face
Pretty bad foul, not given, Portugal go down the other end and score. Poor refereeing, feel bad for the Czechs
That reminds me of David The Android ripped off head in Prometheus.
Some absolutely amazing goals and some even crazier misses over the past few days. Not sure how Belgium managed their loss
Next up, Austrian fans snapping baguettes in front of the French.
Looking forward to what happens next!
