The problem is that Gersbach has possibly gone too far the other way, and stayed in Europe too long. After that first season at Rosenborg, when their fans seemed genuinely excited at his prospects, he’s inexplicably failed to progress. I don’t think he’s had too many injuries getting in the way. He should still be more than good enough for A-League level, but he hasn’t been a regular anywhere for at least three years.
EDIT: He seems to have played around half the league games at Grenoble. Does that count as playing regularly?

Check when he joined. He didn’t play in Grenoble’s first 6 games cause he was still at Aarhus. Has started all but one league game since.
