Lots of people say that about Bass strait but I’ve never had a bad experience there.

Lots of fascinating youtube docs about Heard/McDonald. If I thought that the boat I was in at the bottom of South America made me lose my lunch then what I’ve seen of the Southern Ocean would have me puking up organs.
The boat we rescued was heading from South Africa to NZ and lost their mast in the southern ocean.
They were drifting in the waves for days before we got there. The waves were so big we would lose sight of them.
Thats a long way south. Do you have to go down that far to catch the westerly trade winds or just that they’d drifted that far?
Draw the straightest line you can between South Africa and New Zealand.
Yeah but to Higdawgs point that’s some dangerous and remote ocean. Not like it’s common for any kind of traffic to head that way. Everything down there currently is a fishing vessel. The purple flagged ones further north look like private yachts.

Without any location reference I’d guess fishing.
It gets really deep out there.
We were looking for mh370 in about 4km of water.
Bought a ticket for a mate’s kid v Welly…

Bloody hell. That’s gotta be criminal
Without any location reference I’d guess fishing.
If you look at the marine tracked it says they’re mostly fishing boats.
Yeah that’s what the Chinese say about their fleet as well
Fishing, or Japanese Research Vessels?
