On the topic of f*cked up drivers… Am I the only one to have seen a rise in this, but I drive up and down Victoria Rd every day. I’ve seen this about 5 times this month, where you have 3 lanes, with the left hand lane being a bus lane. Cars have been sitting in the middle lane, slowing down and then turning left into side streets, cutting right across the bus lane.
Fuel excise for this year is expected to be $15.71 billion. Apparently road maintenance is sitting around $54.5 billion. That’s a big chunk covered just by the excise
Fuel excise is collected by the federal government and doesnt get used to maintain local roads.

It’s just people who are worried that they are going to get booked driving in the Bus Lane without knowing there’s a rule that lets you use that lane for a short distance to make a left turn. You see it happen with drivers going South on Parramatta Rd and trying to make a left turn onto Pymont Bridge Road.
it’s fucking dangerous though… car randomly slowing down in the middle lane, then cutting across a second lane to turn. Each time i’ve seen it, was when the bus lane wasn’t technically a bus lane (in the AM but bus lane is PM etc)
People can’t figure out give way to vehicles that have already entered the roundabout and you want them to know rules about lanes that say BUS ONLY?
