Definitely sucks! We had that happen to us twice during the searches and twice more about 8 years ago when we were first searching for a house. Have you registered properly and developed relationships with the agents? A fair chunk of homes are now being sold off-market, if you can get in and be clear with how much you’re willing to spend, they’ll generally hit you up earlier and then there’s less competition and you’re also not going to auction.
Probably something we need to do. Though that might be happening more at places outside of our budget potentially. We are definitely at the lower end of the market.
Sorting out aged care. So much to do and only a week to do it.

All the real estate agents do it as they have individuals specialised for each price bracket. Our villa was around the 1-1.5 mark and there was plenty of off market inspections prior to selling. Real estate agents love it as it’s significantly less work for them and they don’t have to worry about auctions or weeks and weeks of open houses.
Stuck at a pathology centre listening to some old boomer whinge and whine about everything. We’ve already gone through albo, tax, debt, and the rugby five different times.
I’ll never forget being in rural Mongolia and two Victorians kept trying to get a stream for the AFL Grand final to work, without success. They kept going on and on about it, even trying to check scores as we were listening to a throat singing expert talk about his time in France and overseas.
Maddening.

Ran into a guy from Bankstown in Kho Samui. Very stereotypical Lebanese guy. We were at a gun range (i’d never shot a gun) and he decided to pull the Glock out and pointing it everywhere, including posing for a photo with the barrel pointing right at him. Walked out pretty quickly after that when he was waving it in just random directions for the true “gangsta” selfie
