Fuck the Asterisks - The MLB Thread

Good to see the Yankees lose. I know it means seeing the Dodgers win, but still alot better than the Yankees.

Some superb scenes from the parade, none better than Walker Buehler smashing a beer bong on the bus while wearing Orel Hershiser’s actual jersey from the 1988 World Series. Orel stated he won’t be washing or dry cleaning it upon return.

Really wanted this to have been some good old fashioned Bostonian trolling

Just occurred to me that the Dodgers and Liverpool have a lot of parallels.

Both storied teams with global support, both had their heyday in the 1960s to 1980s then underperformed for around 30 years (Dodgers won a WS in 1988 and had a 32 year drought until 2020, coming close a few times, while LFC won the league in 1990 then had a 30 year drought until 2020).

Both broke their 30-ish year drought in 2020 in front of empty stands during COVID. Dodgers finally won a WS with fans in the stands, and I suspect this might be Liverpool’s year to do the same.

Juan Soto moving to the Mets, reported as 15 years for a whopping $765M. Apparently there’s an opt-out after year 5, but the Mets can void Soto’s right to that by paying him an extra $4M per year for the final 10 years, meaning it could actually end up being a total of $805M.

Obscene money.
