A little different, and this guys a striker, not a defender
His best return is 3 goals in 35 appearances. And he couldn’t even score on loan in the Swiss 4th division.
Again, I am more than happy to be proven wrong, and the Mariners have signed players who on paper look shocking and turn out to be decent (and occasionally an alleged sex offender… but I digress), but this guy reminds me of those early days of the A-League where clubs were signing players based off a YouTube highlights package filmed on a potato, and were literally Sunday league reserves quality - and we ourselves signed players of sort of fit that stature.
I have no issue with clubs signing no-name players. I understand the financial plight were in and the inability to compete with European, North American and Middle Eastern leagues when it comes to salaries. I understand there’s always going to players who won’t quite cut the mustard at our level, but this just smacks of a desperado signing by Stanton.
I mean I would assume, that surely there foreign players in the NSW NPL1 are of a higher standard than this. But like I mentioned, I’m happy to be wrong. If he comes out here and puts 10-15 goals away happy days for Newcastle I guess.
I guess they were able to get a foreign striker for cheaper than convincing a quality NPL1 striker (that may well be working two jobs) to make the step up.
He was the first one I saw posting Douglas Costa and posted here. Think the wiki edits only happened after that.
His comments about Wellissol were 10hrs ago, A-League Hub (which I’ve used for a while as a gold standard) only posted 8hrs ago the link.
Hes got a couple of other rumours of a Chilean midfielder linked to Auckland and a few other rumours I’ll watch. Not too fussed on who gets it first but having acounts that collate rumours is pretty handy.
They have to decide on a backdrop of the outdoor dining Nandos or the indoor dining Oportos then, potentiality alienating half of all australian football fans…
