I was pretty happy with the coverage on 9 last night. They had around 12 channels to watch several different events. I was happy flicking around and watched some basketball, volleyball, fencing, judo, swimming before waking up on the sofa at 3am and heading to bed and wondering what more a stan subscription would offer? I think i might just stick with the 9 coverage. I mainly want to see events with Aussies performing and that seems to be the angle 9 are taking.
Nine are showing everything free on NineNow, all sports are available to watch.
Stan Sports has channels in different languages which is a cool offering, and all the coverage is ad-free and from the international broadcast feeds so doesnât have the âChannel 9-ismâ about the commentary.
Itâs not necessary to go for Stan if you want to see everything, but if you already have it then it is a good way to watch without ads or certain irritating commentators.
Your words, not mine. Those are the Paralympic Games, which are part of the wider Olympic Movement. I se you havenât considered the Youth Olympic Games in your needling, why do you hate children?
The benefit for Stan is the lack of ads and the on-demand allowing you to click through all the pointless swimming heats. They seem to get their mini matches up quicker as well
Great stuff in fencing last night, the Frenchwoman Auriane Mallo-Breton was really in control, leading 7-1 over Vivian Kong Man-Wai of Hong Kong, crowd going crazy. Emmanuel Macron in the house watching his compatriot.
her coach is seen on the phone, it seems like heâs been told by the team sponsor to get his jacket on so the branding can be seen on the coverage when she wins.
Vivian comes back from that 7-1 and wins in overtime, silencing the crowd and giving Hong Kong just itâs 3rd ever Olympic gold medal.
The surfing was fantastic this morning. Last heat was insane for the women, some last minute huge waves really mixed it up. Japanese woman was really unfortunate and just picked the wrong wave to lose it with probably the biggest set to come through of the day in the last 2-3 minutes.
Surf is meant to be as good the next few days so should really make it interesting.
The surfing at the last Olympics really hooked me, the commentary were really good at explaining everything to all of us who had no idea what to look for.
The fact that the gold medal surf was moved a day earlier than scheduled to take advantage of waves made from a passing typhoon was also extremely badass.
Theyâll move it somewhere with water I guess, maybe as close as possible but who knows. There is a precedent for a sport taking place in a different country even before the surfing in this current Olympics.
Unlikely we will have to worry about that for a while yet, 2028 and 2032 are going to be fine, and and confirmed bidders for 2036 include cities in Indonesia, Turkey, India, Chile and more potential bids to come.
