Here we go again!

Not the best timing to be leaving :joy:

Because of the derby? I don’t actually attend home or away derbies so it was not a big problem for me.

I’m leaving for Japan in a few hours and lucky I left some room in my bag for a couple of competition points

Why is that, out of interest?

I hate the experience, it has always been a negative time for me. I go to the A-League to enjoy watching the games with some friends. The phony and performative hatred from fans in the derby is just not fun for me.

Getting pushed around, spat at, abused by people who live in the same city as me just because of the colour of the shirt I am wearing, it is so stupid.

Obviously I’m in the minority because it seems nost people get right into it, but it just isn’t for me. I leave my seat to someone who actually wants to be there.

Yeah, I understand. I had a bit of a rough experience in one of the first home derbies with some wanderers fans. It made me a bit on edge for future games, and even now when I attend derbies I make sure I’m aware of people around me.

I don’t do Parra because the place gives me the ick, as the kids say.

This has never happened to me in 20 years of attending A-League games, no opposition fan has ever laid hands on me or spat on me or even singled me out for abuse.

Lucky you

I’ve never had an issue, let alone felt like it could be a possibility against western suburbs.

Melbourne on the other hand…

There is stories from a year or two ago of WSW supporters attacking some of the SFC supporters in Parra

One of the first away derbies I went to at the old Parra me, my ex and a couple mates were walking back to the Rose & Crown on Victoria Road for a couple post game beers and a few shirtless RBB heroes crossed the road and started heckling us aggressively. I was prepared for a punch on, but thankfully there were a couple of Hwy Ptl cops stationed up ahead and they noticed and moved them on.

Other than some banter on the train home from a couple derbies at ANZ it hasn’t been too bad.

But there’s bag eggs amongst all the groups.

Important to note Jubal said “opposition fans” all of the above are likely to have occurred at some point, from our fans likely at the Dang (well maybe that was just Duff).

To be clear, i’m not saying it never happens, it does, but it’s extremely rare. I get to hear about most incidents one way or another so i have what i think is a decent understanding of frequency and severity as far as this kind of thing goes.

it’s a shame people avoid these games, they’re the best thing about supporting our club.

Yeah, but if cut-price Guy Sebastian hadn’t have tripped over those seats….

Never in the course of human history has one person stacked so hard, so close to his goal.

As soon as I stopped going to CommBank we got our first win. I’ve stayed away since and won’t be returning until we lose there again!

If only he’d gone up the stairs instead of trying to traverse the seats!

I’m still in Osaka, just finally got around to it and bought my Shinkansen ticket to Hiroshima. Roll in Wednesday arvo, steal 3 points, back to Osaka town Thursday lunch time.
