Its all horrible now, and I feel sorry for today's kids... the Music thread

Was good fun. I like it that their songs do their things for 3 or so minutes than onto the next, and as you said, could hit any of a number of styles in the process. Unbelievably that was the first time I’ve seen them live due to being deeply immersed in genre at the time, so is the bassist always so happy, or was it sarcasm/pisstake or had he dropped an e beforehand? Also the keytar goddess’s hair is an amazing sight on stage, but the mrs reckons it was fake. I hope not.

Party Dozen did good - hard for a two piece (where one guy is static behind a drum kit) to have presence in a big room like that - but I definitely like them better in yer smaller/dingier venue. Though tbf that applies for just about every act in the universe.

The Great Club has closed down unfortunately.

A combination of NIMBY noise complaints and broken down negotiations with the landlord.

It farken sucks, such a great little venue. No idea how the landlord is going to find a new tenant, so it’s bound to get knocked and more apartments appearing. That will make the NIMBYS happy.

I saw some great bands there the night of the porko festival this year. I thought it smelt a bit.

But nimbys ruin most things.

So apparently Whitelion did a cover of Radar Love.

There’s juuust enough variation to make it interesting and does have a filthy guitar solo.

Radio Birdman tonight. About as good as you could expect a bunch of dudes pushing 70 to be playing rock and roll.

Municipal waste tonight! Cannot fucking wait, haven’t seen them since their first tour in '05.

Gonna have the worst bangover tomorrow

Edit: fuck me dead what a show! Makes all the effort coming back to Sydney worthwhile. Bangover tomorrow for sure.

Is there some sort of rule that as musical acts age and become less relevant, they must redo their old work with symphony orchestras?

That, and you need to be an established act with loadsa money to be able to afford using one.

And possibly high.
