Iâm hearing on the local football grapevine that Campbelltown City Council has pulled itâs sponsorship of MacarthurBet.
I could see MacarthurBet going under in the next three years, and thatâs a generous estimate.
During school holidays they held free coaching clinics most days - they filled up extremely quickly and had waitlists etc. There is support for them and they are engaging with the grassroots in the area in a positive way - they just have the same problem that pretty much every A-League club has, getting the bums on seats on match day. Not helped that they (and Western) have come in during probably one of the lowest points in the leagues history when money is generally going out of the game.
The only expansion team to come in a do well was of course WSW - but they came in during the Del Piero season and had a stack of concessions from the FA that helped them establish themselves. Like all clubs now, they have been hit with the harsh reality of keeping a fanbase turning up week after week when the hype and trophies run dry and that hasnât been going that great for them either.
Depending on the definition of âdoing wellâ the Phoenix are successful.

I canât blame them for this. Northbridge was NPL1 (the alternative was starting in NPL4). And the Rams werenât going to let them have free rein of the NPL program.

they also waited for an active support crew to form, trademarked the name and completely took it over, stifling their active support and then proceeded to price away support out of attending games, despite the fact that they could have put focus into actually developing local rivalries

Could have so easily aligned with Macarthur Rams, but they just gave an well established local club the middle finger.
Rams > Bulls.
We should re-establish the yearly pre-season friendly with the Rams, play it at Camobelltown Stadium, get Campbelltown Council on board, create some trophy, and have it named after a Macarthur based legend like Brett Emerton, and advertise it as the REAL Macarthur team.
All proceeds from the match to go towards Macarthur Rams replacing the Bulls.
