Saw it on the weekend at IMAX. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it, despite it being a total rehash of all the other alien movies, including Prometheus and Covenant. But the last act totally jumped the shark for me.

I really liked it but I knew as it was happening that final 10 minutes would be what turns some people off.
Watched Wonka tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought that it had a nice mix of quirky, funny and serious moments. Plus I definitely enjoyed its’ links with the musical score to the original movie without being too over the top. Hugh Grant really plays the Oompa Loompa well
I enjoyed it the first time… my kids love it so it does become tiresome on the 87th viewing
I watched Beetlejuice Beetlejuice a couple of nights ago and it was fun without being spectacular. Although still puzzled why besides her being Tim Burton’s partner you would have Monica Bellucci in your movie and have her appear for less than 15 minutes total.
I saw it yesterday (yay Hornsby Odeon $10 tix) and I did enjoy it, but…
it’s basically the equivalent of listening to a Band’s Greatest Hits album when you own all their records, there are so many easter eggs, shoutouts and callbacks to the previous 4 movies, the 2 Prometheus movies and even the Alien Isolation videogame that I got tired of them.
It was inoffensive fun, though I thought the giant minge on the wall was a bit too on the nose and the highly convenient changes to the alien lifecycle timing were a bit jarring if you’re invested in such things.
Probably the 3rd best Alien movie behind Aliens and Alien.
That was my take as well. I didn’t hate Prometheus but this at least seemed to get what makes a good Alien movie more than the other ones, even if it fell a bit flat on the execution.
Not a film per se, but film related. Clap your eyes on this beauty, Lebowski Urban Achievers!
I hope that it immobilizes on Shabbos.
Is that in someone’s man cave? Pretty jelly.
I assume so. I have no real interest in golf or NFL - I have eyes only for that pinball machine. Unfortunately there are none of these beauties for public play in Australia.
Well, looks like my Friday night is sorted.
Some Fish & Chips, a few Vodka Lemonades, and this bad boy.
@hillbilly - Do you recommend?
On Paramount+ for those who think P+ is pointless outside the A-League.
7th greatest movie of all time!
You should totally watch it. It has cocaine and bears!
Go on then. Give us the other 6
I’d assume Apocalypse Now and Godfather parts 1 and 2 are a given?
The Thin Red Line.
Starship Troopers
Apocalypse Now
The Fall
Hero
Bikini Shop
Cocaine Bear
I think I’ve only seen Godfather 2 once.
The last time I watched The Godfather, I was underwhelmed. Dunno if I saw it one too many times, but the story lacks for me now.
Nothing but bangers
I wonder if that well worn VHS copy of Bikini Shop is still at my parents …
Hero, hell of a picture. Tony Leung steals the show, as he does in every picture he’s in.
You can’t call this bad.
But its not good.
The acting is terrible.
The plot line is more predictable than a Wanderers choke…
But you know what, knock back a few beers and its…Reletively entertainable.
