NFL Thread - the inches we need are everywhere around us

Shouldn’t the receivers have moved well away from the ball though so that there was no risk of that?

It’s up to the punt returner to call them off

Also hope Purdy can remain uninjured till his 4yr rookie contract expires, can’t even get a negotiated extension until the end of next season.

Because as Mr Irrelevant (last pick) in the 2022 draft he’s one of the worst paid players on the field (not that I’d complain with US$1m a year)

I can’t recommend watching the 1 minute video of his lawyer enough, genuine Trump level legal representation. :joy:  :joy:

Kirk Cousins must be a confused, yet very rich man right now.

Yeah, I was VERY surprised when Atlanta took Penix - it makes absolutely no sense.

You’re either backing Kirk by giving him a receiver or some defense, or you’re not pissing away a large chunk of your cap by signing a top QB starter so you can draft Penix…

Pre-season games began today so here’s all the bigger offseason moves….

•No Bill Belichick in the NFL for the first time since 1975! (Which is longer than I’ve been alive and I’m 48!!)

•Two big offensive line retirements for Philly.

•Houston really stepped it up during Free Agency following C.J. Stroud’s stellar rookie season. Look out Kansas City.

•Likewise Tennessee…so can Will Levis prove he’s the guy?

•The Bears got the business done!! Let’s see if the #1 Draft pick rookie QB can take advantage.

•Ravens Offensive Line got decimated. They did add Derrick Henry though.

•The Bills, Chargers and Dolphins all got squeezed by the cap and cut salary, ie: quality players, everywhere (Miami’s defence….eek!:grimacing:, the Bills everything……double eek!:grimacing::grimacing:)

•The Steelers stacked up the QB’s.

•The Falcons stacked up the QB’s.

•The Raiders start the season with……Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell at QB :flushed:

•Denver Broncos start the season with….Bo Nix/Jarrett Stidam/Zach Wilson at QB :man_shrugging:t2::face_with_peeking_eye::grimacing:

•Dallas didn’t go as “all in” as Jerry Jones said they would. (ie, they didn’t go all in at all)

•J. E. T. S. Jets have surrounded Aaron Rogers with protection and weapons, can he play for more than 3 snaps before snapping something of his own?

And finally

•Rule Changes - The Kick Off and On Side Kick rules have changed. The new kick off rule should allow for more kick returns and safer blocking and tackling. The kick off will look dramatically different though and more resemble the XFL style kick offs, which was a big influence for the change. The new onside kick rule should allow for it to happen more often and become a bigger factor/option during a game.

Jimmy G nailed on to win a Super Bowl for the Rams then.

That kick off was all sorts of ridiculous in the first pre season game… Guess we’ll get used to it

This is my first look at the new kick off rule.

That’s quite a thing they’ve done …

If this is what it encourages, great. Beats 70% of them being touchbacks or whatever

If you haven’t seen the hail mary pass that got Washington the win over Chicago…

The best bit was the CB taunting the crowd during the play, followed by tipping it for the TD.

Into the hands of the man he wasn’t covering

Couldn’t have written it

In case any Giants fans out there would like to keep the season vaguely interesting…

Sat through 3 and a half hours to watch the Raiders do that on the final play. :man_facepalming:

I’m a little surprised that Shadeur Saunders is rated above Cam Ward, it feels like Saunders hasn’t really been consistently tested, plus he has Travis Hunter to throw to, which is a gift. But I’d take either over DeVito in a heartbeat.

I don’t think either would be ready to start in the NFL and also signing a veteran to start, at least initially, would be a good idea. You think Daboll manages to stay for next season?
