Perth Glory Thread

Major announcement tomorrow. Potentially appointing Stajcic

Its a brilliant signing. Can he turn Perth from a basketcase to something decent again?

Don’t they need an owner?

That image already looks like he’s waving farewell.

It’s the latest blow for Sage, who is currently in the throes of a legal stoush with the tax office, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission and the Australian Federal Police over allegations of tax evasion, which he is contesting.

If ACIC is involved, he’s fucked. They don’t waste their efforts on small time or the unwinable.

Club statement here, including an interesting line thanking the WA Government for their support. I wonder if they have been financially supporting the club during the transition?

Sounds like a good acquisition. Hopefully they give Staj some funds to buy some decent players.

Or perhaps written off some of the debt, maybe for stadium hire (assume the stadium is wa government owned?).

Hey, wasn’t sure where to post this, sorry if supposed to be elsewhere
suggestions on pub where can I watch Sydney FC v MelbV game in Perth in CBD/Northbridge? Thanks

Interesting wrinkle in the Perth story here that apparently Andy Keogh’s brother is one of the creditors that pushed Glory into administration.

Kakka, which is spearheaded by Perth businessman Kenneth Keogh, brother of former striker Andy Keogh, claims the entity is insolvent and wants to be paid out for its stake in the club.

It’d be funny if this same equity stake was somehow related to the cap breach

They had a cap breach??

2014-15 they were knocked down to 7th due to salary cap issues around Keogh’s (surprisingly in-cap, considering at the time he should’ve by all rights been their marquee) salary. I like the idea that he signed for a cheap salary in exchange for this very equity that leads to the wind-up of the business.

Perth Glory under a transfer embargo?

Presumably whoever is running things there doesn’t want to or cant commit to any long term contracts until the ownership is figured out.

If they’re in receivership, they are probably barred from signing new contracts that don’t have a quantified positive ROI.
