Random Football Musings

Yeah, you’d expect his remuneration is appearance based at this stage.

I would say he is absolutely paid a regular contract, and that the Yokohama FC higher-ups just can’t bring themselves to be the one that ends it all for the King.

This is the article that I recall reading about it. I’m sure the pressure talked about here continues even now.

It is a wee bit selfish playing on into your 50’s. Let it go mate

It’s been a mockery for years.

Decent read on professional fouls in response to a challenge the other day.
Why is it that these tackles are somewhat accepted and considered to be taking one for the team whereas a deliberate handball on the line, a la Suarez at the World Cup, is still widely ridiculed?

Or diving. Why are so many people so much more disgusted by diving than other forms of blatant deliberate cheating?

Feigning injury as a time wasting tactic is probably the thing I hate the most. One of the most frustrating parts of coming up against West-Asian teams in the Asian Cup.

Waaaaaaaaaant.

Heartless cunts (who AREN’T racist) to cry “virtue signalling” in 3, 2, 1…

I know football in Singapore is not a big deal here or practically anywhere, but just wanted to share the frustration among other football people.

One of the teams in the Singapore Premier League (formerly S.League) that has a long history is Home United FC. They’ve been around since just after the war, originally a team founded for members of and to represent the Singaporean police force. In 1996 they were one of the inaugural clubs for the S.League, and switched their name to Home United FC in 1997, to show their representation of all the divisions of the Home ministry not just the police.

They had a classic rivalry for years with the Singapore Armed Forces FC (who later also moved away from their roots as the club for players representing the army and renamed themselves Warriors FC) and were one of the icons of the local scene.

Yesterday the news broke that it was announced that Singaporean billionaire Forrest Li had purchased a 100% stake in the club. Home United Football Club was officially renamed Lion City Sailors Football Club, with the club being privatised for the first time in its history. Home United’s signature red kits and badge were replaced with white tops and a blue crest.

Most offensive of all of these offences for me is that the new (shit) logo has the year 2020 on it. The heritage, history and connection built up by the club for so long just wiped out on the whim of a billionaire.

The investment into local football is admirable but at the cost of the soul of a long established team? I find it reprehensible.

Goodbye to this

Hello to this

Home United are now gone and the Lion City Sailors are here. Meanwhile, as the new SPL season approaches, Warriors FC have been stood down from the league for financial reasons. Is the fate of either team that much different? Or do Warriors at least have the mercy of still existing as their own club, with potential to come back in a season or two? Home are gone forever, and it sucks.

Yep Billionaires are cunts

Although the dragon breathing a flaming football is spectacularly lame, the whole story is a bit fucked…I mean, buying a football club because you love them and their history is one thing…buying a football club to be your plaything is just further proof the world is completely pants. Also, Lion City Sailors… how could anyone be intimidated by them??

You forgot to mention Aurelio Vidmar is manager.

Hope he wants to play 35’s for us otherwise there is going to be Iran based heckling.

I’d be looking for Damien Mori over Vidmar.

I suggest:
