'tard comes from The World Game Forum in around 2004. “Fucktard” became a trendy term and one point, and for various reasons it came to be applied to Victorians in general in the shortened rendering of 'tard.

Then as the A-League came into being those of us from TWGF spread it amongst supporter forums and it came to be applied to Melbourne. They helped this process be developing a fan base of self entitled fuckwits for which the nickname could be seen to be quite relevant.

It has, thou, had it’s time in the sun and should be left to the past only to be remembered by cranky old 2 Bobbers who remember how good it was in the early naughties when the semi-pro NSL was dieing a death of a thousand cuts, before we learnt to bask in the glow of the radiance and glory of Milos Ninkovic.

How is this game not sold out?

I am hoping for a 3 - 2 come from behind win with the last goal coming during Tilio time.

I saw yesterday it looked very limited with only GA and Away (lol) allocations left, but today they must have released some more tickets, still some available in most areas.

i just checked, looks like they’ve finally sold their away allocation.

Good to see Western Suburbs come out about that woeful RBB post. Has no place in our game.

I thought Tard came from Tardy, as in being late. There was some historical meaning behind it.

“Fuck off Melbourne you Tard factory” was always my understanding of the TWGF origin.

As usual, frothing already.

The problem with this game now is that in the early days all that mattered was winning, because they were in their honeymoon period and we were ROTting away and would gladly take 3 points by any means.

Now just winning isn’t enough and I feel like we need to crush them by 5 or 6 for it to be properly reflective and ram home our pure superiority in every facet.

We haven’t had a win in the derby since December 2018 and that is way too long.

Looking at the ladder, a win for us would extend our unassailable lead at the top while consigning them to a spot outside the top 6 with a 5 point gap, which I don’t think they can crawl back.

Any win would do for me. Hopefully a Lopar brain snap ala Vedran.

Yeah, I just want a win - even if it’s a jammy last minute goal that does it. I’m so pumped, I haven’t been this excited before a football game in ages. I have my aunt and cousin in law out from Germany who are coming to the game (and they have to be at the airport at 3am tomorrow morning to head back home!). My cousin in particular is super excited, she loves football.

It was actually “Eat This Melbourne you Tard Factory”. I seem to remember that Hilly got sick of the Serbs and Cros slugging it out on the Two Bobber and trolled Victorians, with tongue planted in cheek, to makes things interesting again. It was a time when the A League was merely a twinkle in Frank Lowy’s eye.

most fired up i have been for one in a while, few factors:

  • losing the last one
  • first one at kogarah
  • unreleased tension from postponed game
  • homophobia from RBB in the lead up

you just never know what will happen in these games but will come down to us finishing our chances, they will need some luck and bad finishing from us to get a result.

Can we not have that video with the word “Highlights” next to what is a pretty disturbing still from it of Duke:

  • celebrating that jammy win
  • celebrating it in a style which makes me uncomfortable

Back when Wanderers used to pull a crowd.

Is there a pop up cove shop tonight selling the new “hated and proud” cove shirts?
