Round 3 - 2019/20 Discussion

If that’s still the rule, fine. But we’ve literally had THREE almost identical penno’s already given this season, where balls have been smacked into blokes at close range who had no chance to avoid the ball.

Consistency. It’s all I want.

Sitting here im actually amazed Fowler didn’t make a tactical change pretty much after they scored. Their wide wingplay was so awful. They wait til super late to bring a game changer on and get annoyed it doesn’t come off.

Mariners will beat them easy if they play high and wide quick men. Bet on it.

Because Kamsoba.

You are correct.

They have given that exact same penalty against Mariners this season.

VAR needs to be consistent and fast. Otherwise it will consistently piss us off

The one MV were given last week was probably the closest example. Insanely close range, headed straight onto defenders hand.

Our one against Adelaide also super close range on Jakobson, from a ball that had been switched and immediately volleyed back into his arm.

Mariners one the longest distance, but still super harsh given it was a clearance going away from goal, that couldn’t possibly have been expected. Hitting the arm and the ball dropping in the box was actually MORE of a disadvantage to CCM, given if it didn’t hit him it would have gone for a throw-in near half way.

I agree with you completely. Based on what’s been given this season, that’s a handball, 100%.

I’m only trying to hazard a guess at why it wasn’t called.

VAR is consistently pissing me off.

So, I have this on authority from someone in the know RE: the VAR bunker.

Apparently there was another angle available to KGJ that showed the ball hitting Broxham a little more front on than what we saw. Yes, it hit his arm, but the decision was made on the basis he wasn’t making himself larger than necessary / unnatural position, and that if the ball didn’t hit his arm it was only going to hit him in the chest anyways.

There is apparently audio available to Fox outlining how the decision was made. It wasn’t shown last night as there was also some hardcore verbal from players included. It might be covered and explained better in tonight’s coverage.

Pretty woeful defending from Newcastle there. Millar particularly slow to react to that cutback. 1-1.

Moss punches into his own net from McGree’s corner … LOL

LOL at Moss on McGree’s second. Newcastle need a decent keeper.

Ufuk’s Phoenix not doing so well

0-2

I was thinking Fornaroli might struggle this season, at least until he came back to match fitness, but he has clearly just picked up where he left off.

Phoenix look like an absolute rabble

Both teams had an #88 on the pitch after Hooper came on. Can’t imagine that’d have happened too often.

Do they have a cheesy name for this derby yet

I wonder how long Diamanti will be happy to spray cross-field passes to Connor Pain to watch him duly run the ball out of play.

That was a nice goal. Decent ball by Genreau but Maclaren really did most of the work there.

Scott McDonald

dear lord
