Round 6 - Sydney FC vs Perth - 2/12/23

Is it just me or is “the turnaround is too short” a strange turn of phrase to use to refer to three players that have been out (at least in the case of Amanatidis and Rodwell) basically since the start of the season?

It makes sense for someone who maybe injured themself in the previous game, or the one before, and there simply wasn’t enough days between games for recovery. Rodwell was first mentioned as injured in what…August? September? (so long ago I can’t remember).

The word “turnaround” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.

especially as it’s a week between games, which is exactly what is expected. If they’d played on Wednesday, then that would be justified, or a Sunday game followed by a Friday game…

Rodwell traditionally has about 6 months between matches so I guess it’s all relative.

If the turn around was just a few months longer, they might have been able to make it. Smh.

Then it would be more a 4-2-3-1 than a 4-4-2. To preserve the 4-4-2, you’d think they’d pick Wood to replace JK.

Agreed. Might really depend on how Talay feels about the double pivot, though.

If he’s committed to it being Bratten and Caceres, then Wood is probably the only player available that makes sense there.

If Talay thinks the pivot needs less Caceres, then I think he is the best player we have to go in the hole.

I am not at all excited for this.

Is Burgess still injured?

Yes. Was pictured in training during the week, but presumably not quite fully ready.

Caceres to the hole!

The Club emailed me to ask if I wanted to be part of the group that unfurls the big logo at the start of the match. I said yes. They said I had to agree to a waiver. I said yes again but in agreeing to the terms of the waiver I could not help but notice that the first paragraph stated…

Is there something about the Sydney / Perth rivalry that has previously eluded me?

We were all planning on throwing stuff at you, but I guess the club screwed that one up…

Waiver would have originally been drafted back when Ruben was still playing and participating in warm-up shooting drills.

If that is the case surely on the field is the safest place in the stadium.

Well, someone times the inhabitants of the barracks forget that the rifle range has been gone a loooong time.

I believe we are wearing our third kit tomorrow.

Because we’re 3rd last?

Trackwork on the North Shore Line, Good Things next door (will finish approx the same time we do), and a decent amount of rain expected. Might be on the couch for this.

I mean, serves anybody living in the North Shore right.
