I think you’re slightly confused on that front. They have losses of 1000 per day, but that includes wounded, KIA, MIA and captured. They’ve never reported 1000 KIA on any of the fronts from the start of the war. The 140,000 dead is probably a decent estimate on the number of dead soldiers though.
Some movements on the frontlines now. Unconfirmed reports that Ukraine has achieved another breakthrough on Kursk. I’ve read rumours more so and can’t confirm if it’s a new area they’ve attacked or expanded on current possessions with the new front lines. Ukraine has also successfully retaken the aggregating plant in Vovchansk, this is the city just to the North east of Kharkiv where Russia tried to do what Ukraine has managed to do. Ukraine has now almost completely retaken the town.
In other news, Australia has recently decommissioned 51 M1A1 MBTs as they’re set to be replaced by 74 M1A2s this year. For some reason, no one considered the possibility of sending them out to Ukraine. The Ukrainian government has been strongly lobbying our government and there looks to be some positive movement. We’ve reportedly reached out to the US to enquire whether they would allow the shift of assets to Ukraine, something that would more than likely not be blocked. It’d be a big boost to Ukraine as the tanks will still be in decent nick, considering they’ve only been decomissioned in the past month or so
Well, they’ve also never been used outside of training exercises.
Last time we sent tanks to a war was Vietnam?
Also I can’t see the US blocking it either. I think most of the Abrams they’ve sent over are decommissioned Marine models. I read the Marines were getting rid of their Abrams a few years back.
How does the Korean Panther tie in with NATO/US equipment? Are they compatible enough with the aim of standardising across the pact so that they can all interchange? Or something totally different
So a Russian counter attack against Ukraine in Kursk has once again ended in spectacular failure for the Russkies.
On 29th Sept as they bagan the attack their tanks and armoured vehicles became trapped in the defensive structures, tank traps and infantry that they had built to stop the Ukranians.
The Ukranians took full advantage launching drone strikes on the vehicles.
Assuming Vlad knows the truth about what’s going on, he’s probably hoping for Ukraine/NATO/America to make a big mistake and justify him actually going nuclear. Pretty wishful thinking at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone knocked him off before too long. His power is fading.
He also cant just completely withdraw now. If he withdrew to just what he has officially annexed or claimed I can’t see Ukraine just accepting it. Presumably they’d regroup and launch at the Donbas & Crimea.
