SFCU A-League Fantasy - 2024/25

I realised halfway through I was choosing only Sydney or ex-sydney players so I just committed to it.

Just gotta find someone to swap for jakolis.

Options who will see regular minutes off the bench are David Williams or Zac Sapsford.
Alex Parsons and Jacob Brazete should both see game time for Brisbane although I’m not sure it will be a lot.
SFC players you could choose although won’t see much game time are Jaiden Kucharski, Pat Wood, Adrian Segecic, Nathan Amanatidis, Mitch Glasson and Tiago Qunital.

Kucharski was my first pick but I don’t know if he will get enough time to make it worthwhile.

Had time to pick squad, of course can still change before R1.

I went all in! Sydney for the win.

Forgot the juggling of subs and if they actually get on… still… Good luck to everyone!

Entered. No idea what I’m doing but should be fun!

That’s the spirit! I’ve got 3 potential tips for first-timers, things that have worked for me in the past:

  1. Look for players you think are undervalued. Looks like everyone so far has picked Ouahim, $148K could be a steal if he goes on getting goals and assists like he has in pre-season.

Usually after 3 games players then get revalued in accordance with performance. eg Lolley is expensive, he romped home with the most points overall as our focal point last season. But if he does fuck all from week 1-3 his price will drop and then you’ll have less funds available to spend should you choose to trade him. So timing of your trades becomes important as player values go up and down.

  1. Look for defenders who can provide goals / assists (they get more points for them than attackers do) or those who may have been erroneously positioned. eg that’s why Doka is expensive, and I remember a few years ago Pierias was classed as a defender but always played on the wing and so got mad points.

  2. The tip I shouldn’t share, carefully pick a player in your XI who will. not. play. The way the scoring works is your captain gets double points, but if they don’t play your vice captain instead gets the double points. If you pick those roles well you can have two cracks at landing the best double points each week, adjusting mid-round.

Make sure your VC pick always plays before your C pick. And make sure the player in your XI who definitely won’t get on the park is from a team who also hasn’t played yet. That means if your VC has a blinder and bags 40 points you can tank the captaincy by assigning it to the player who won’t play. Just beware the designated tankee will be auto-replaced in your XI by someone in the same position from your bench, and that if you have more than one of those positions on your bench the auto-replacement will be the one who scores the least. So you have more control over doing this if your formation allows the tankee to be from a position where there’s only 1 available replacement on your bench (who will play and therefore whose points will count as normal). Capiche?

I swear I’ve earned way more points doing that over the years than through any attempted trade immediately paying off.

Final bonus tip: there may be an amnesty on the rules until week 3, I’m not guaranteed to be able to check lineups while O/S.

Great to have this going again this season & like the new system format. Not sure they’re predictions are quite accurate though…

Guess we’ll wait and see. Probably should cap him if he’s going to score 6 though.

Tried to get Sportsdeck to change my account’s email address back to my personal email.

Ended up deleting my team and still fucking the accounts up. Good thing I took a screenshot of my team. FMD.

Final bump to get your entries in before CCM and MV kick-off tmr, looks like we’ve got 19 so far. :+1:

Just to confirm, if you set your captain to be the tankee, they will then be replaced by someone on your bench - but the captaincy stays with them when they move to the bench?

Then if the VC has a mare, you pick another player to be captain and sub out the tankee?

That’s it. :+1:

Best way to think of it is VC only matters if your captain does not get on the pitch (either not in squad or an unused sub). Once your captain sets foot on the pitch their points are locked as your double for the round.

So always make sure VC plays first. If they have a quiet one then you leave your captain as normal and hope they get better points. But if the VC has a stormer and you’re confident will get the highest total then you make someone who isn’t going to play (cough, third/fourth choice keepers are great for this, cough) your captain.

Confirming when they are auto-subbed out the captaincy stays with them, so your VC gets the double points, and the player who gets auto-subbed in has their points count as normal.

I briefly toyed with the idea of only having current and ex SFC players, but I really haven’t the time

You’d just sign half WSW and half SFC wouldnt you?

^^ nice one. I really wanted Lolley but was left too light elsewhere. Running with Taggart, Dougie C and Klimala up top instead.

Di Pizio looks value if he gets more game time this year (also one of those classed as MF but will surely play higher). So does Wests Korean CB but can’t bring myself to pick him for this weekend against us.

Haven’t done one of these games in a long time. Here’s my squad going into round 1:

There’s definitely one or two I’ll switch out in the next round or two but it seems like a solid squad that should reliably get points in round one, yet not require too many changes if/when players are re-valued.

They’ve still got Ruon Tongyik in the game?
They should add Kerem Bulut and Ahmad Elrich so we can get a proper Prison XI going.

Already got a decision to make.

I selected Peraic-Cullen but have him on the bench. He got 11 points last night.
My starter is the Wellington GK.

Do I swap him out for free this week with someone who won’t play like Gus Hoefsloot and burn a trade next week to bring him back in or do I back him to get close to the 11 points against Western United?

Darn… i thought I would need MacArthur players against Perth… had Holman, then swapped out for Da Silva ‘to save money’… then didn’t check starting line ups. Holman showing me up… they might score 10!

I swapped Oli Sail in at last minute …
