All I could think of yesterday was how many long range bombs we’d have scored this season if we’d signed Ugarkovic.
Data analysis is important and plays a big part along with other factors in a season.
I absolutely love the effort and time you put in to this. I love reading it.
But in the end, this is football. 
Looking at the current squad (with Bobo added), I think we have a more dynamic setup and agree that we won’t be relying so much on an individual (le Fondre) to score goals. Looking foward to the next few matches, just wish we didn’t have to wait 2 weeks!
Really liked it, thanks Grealy. Some important lessons there and clearly Bimbi and coaching team have been aware of a lot of the trends that you have dug up; hence the Bobo signing.

Pohang is also finishing the work of finding a substitute for Ilyuchenko and O’Neill. It is reported that a contract was signed with defender Ryan Grant from Sydney FC,
Unlikely - he’s said on a number of occasions that he has no plans on leaving Sydney. No way he’s going to those cunts at Pohang.

Anyone know how much ABJ is on?
It’s not quite time for meltdown mode but I do feel there are a few things worth pondering.
- Zullo’s injury past has caught up with him and we don’t get much value out of him now
- ABJ has been coming off the bench and I assume, is getting paid quite well
- Kosta, high-paid player, vastly underperforming
- Wilkinson is 36 and must be getting even slower than he has been - despite his amazing anticipation, his body must be close to catching up with him
- Retre can fill in for a number of positions decently but can’t play any of them really well
This is not a criticism as such. The point I’m trying to make is that to win the league, as we have quite regularly in recent years, you have to get value from your players with the salary cap in mind. Not getting value from the expensive players in particular is a huge disadvantage. At the moment I feel we’re not getting it right where we have got it right in recent years. What can the club do about it?
I’m glad that finally we got someone like Bobo who can at least offer a plan B, or a good foil for Buhagiar or Kosta or whoever Corica feels is appropriate to join him up top. But Bobo will have to work pretty hard for the opposition to alter their tactics accordingly. Can he do it at 36? I’m not certain, but I hope to be proven wrong.

great post, was going to post something similar, you pretty much summed up my thoughts about the squad atm as well.
we got away with kosta’s underperformance with le fondre’s overperformance imo.
couldn’t agree more with Retre too - he is ‘solid’ at best but we need someone who will excel, i think we need to dice roll a bit more with Hof, even if he takes time to get better it’ll be an investment in youth and from what we’ve seen he can create more than Retre.
