Streets of our town - the Sydney thread

I lived in that eastern suburbs for years and never went west of… Norton Street?

If it wasn’t for football, family and friends I wouldn’t cross em.

I make a point of never going north of the harbour bridge. Nothing worth seeing up there

We know a Real Estate agent that operates in Balmain. He had to sell a property that was valued at $10 million and the owners were being very difficult. They had an offer that was way above what they wanted, but they realised who it was and jacked it up even more on the counter. The person pulled out and now they’re below the value…

The agent had to explain to them that there’s literally 5-6 people in Sydney that would want to, and could afford, to buy the property. There’s almost no one in the Eastern Suburbs that would ever go for it as over there, $10 mill is average price for a house. In Balmain it was the extreme high end. He’s only seen a very small handful of people that have ever moved from the Eastern Suburbs, out west.

Supposedly Balmain leagues has finally been knocked down?

Yeah I know the demolition was schuelded to start, still no idea what they are actually going to build there but i imagine its going to make the shit fight that is Victoria road even worse

I thought there was supposed to be a Metro station in the basement of whatever they built

Cheers for the advice regarding dinner in the city. We went to Kid Kyoto and had the $75 set menu. Really generous share plates and the food was yummy. Good vibe too.

Went to Cabramatta yesterday (Sunday) and the place was heaving. I have never seen so many Sydney people in a single place (outside events) in all my life. Busier than the CBD by far.

The shops for fresh produce were cheap with quality stuff and places to eat at were plentiful.

There were also an absurd amount of bubble tea/macha drinks/coffee and pastry shops as well.

We have bubble tea in Bathurst now.

So it’s different from how you make champagne. Putting tea in a soda stream isn’t going to cut it as bubble tea just so you know…

Unless you were going to suck at the teet of Hemmes, there ain’t much to do in the city these days. Chinatown is always fun though.

I don’t understand bubble tea.

Just gimme a cup of English breakfast, dash of milk. That’ll do nicely.

Are you buying bubble tea?

The old Easyway and Chai-time were great, especially the fruit teas.

Went last weekend with my mrs. Had a similar experience. Great afternoon trip.

Pop into Eastwood, very similar in terms of the amount of people and food. Plus you have the Korean/Chinese options on either side of the train station.

The Iron Chef is really nice when it comes to Yum Cha as well. At least it used to be!

This is why we went to Cabramatta, to do yum cha at the Ironchef. Apparently they are closing in a few weeks and our friends wanted to go one last time.

I love old school suburbia that heaves with people and activity. The way retail should be.

I think I just heard someone fall off a balcony or out a window of the Meriton Tower on George Street.
