This is an insane long shot but worth a crack. I have two tickets to the Star Wars Orchestra show at the Opera House for Saturday 16th August. The drama is, I can’t make that night but I am still insanely keen to go. I was hoping there was someone, somewhere in this city who would want to swap their Thursday night tickets for my Saturday night tickets.

Yesterday saw the final V-Set UTA/CityRail/Sydney Trains service run on the Central Coast-Newcastle line, having been running since 1970. Over 50 years of service.

Last service left Central at 9.20pm.

Whilst they’ve been looking a little tired for some time now, they’re an iconic piece of Sydney’s transport infrastructure.

I believe there are still a few running on the Blue Mountains line to Lithgow, but they’re set to be retired by the end of the year. Like the S-Sets they have covered a ridiculous amount of kilometers over their service life.

They are set to be replaced by the much-delayed and troubled Mariyungs, that I will be nothing short of amazed if they last 50 years.

Did countless hours of commuting up and down from the mountains over many years on those trains. Many long nights back from the SFS, the BME would ride on home.

Carraige number 9181 will always hold a special place in my heart.

Gonna need more details

I think he always used to travel in that carriage

Yeah sounds like a story there, out with it son.

My ex and I went out to the Blue Mountains on a date when we were younger and first dating. Having had dinner in Katoomba, we caught a late night train home to the city.

The carraige at such a late hour was empty, we had both had a few drinks, there’s no CCTV in those trains…

Ah bugger it. I fucked my ex on the way home. Top carraige. A memorable ride in more ways than one.

If you know you know

9181 reads like a Champions of Oceania group stage in the World Club cup. So who was AC Milan & who was Port Vila Utd?

Oh, I was very much AC Milan.

Hello? Yes, I’d like to report that there’s some sticky stuff on the seats. What’s my carriage number? Hang on….its 9181.
