Make that 5
Make that 5
There have been some great touches from Sydney but honestly, Canberra have been so bad. If the quality of opponents is going to be that poor, they might as well force the teams to give at least two young players a full game every game.
Feel sorry for Michelle Heyman. She has worked hard to display her qualities as a striker but with so little support.
Canât be critical but thought at 4-0 it was fairly flattering given there was a degree of fortune with each of them (soft pen, inch away from bad miss, shit cross, clear push by Rule). But from then on the girls actually went to a higher level, as the game became stretched we carved them time and again.
So, that front three will still need to be better against the stronger sides (we have largely played the dross of the comp due to Covid affected draw), but we may well still be able to 1-0 them anyways given weâll always create and do not look like conceding.
The back 4 have been immense, Jada too when called upon (and she has definitely improved out of sight on high balls), and the midfield have bossed every game so far. Today was Loweâs best performance by far, great to see the improvement from even a month ago.
What on earth has happened to Canberra?
Again: Rachel Lowe has just improved out of sight since last season. Faster running, faster thinking, more direct. good vision and technique. Such a pleasure to watch play.
I thought we might struggle a bit with no Remy or (particularly) Cortnee, but it seems we have the depth to absorb these two absences.
Charlotte and skipper Nat were solid at the back, Ally with another spectacular goal from distance at Jubilee, and Rojas doing the business up top.
Princess, on the other hand, at times looked like she couldnât be fucked with it all. Not sure if sheâs preserving her energy, but far too much walking/ball watching for me. OK once she gets going, but too long to react and often in the wrong spot. I hope it isnât just laziness like her brother seems to exhibit. She is probably the player Iâm least excited by, and I wouldnât mind at all if she had a spell riding the pine.
Paige Satchell has been a great pickup for us this year, and as noted above Rachel Lowe has really earned her starting spot.
6-0 thoughâŠitâs hard to have any complaints with that sort of score line.
The girls game away at AAMI Park on Tuesday has been postponed due to Covid cases in the MV ladies team. So no longer a double header = more time to take liberties.
Unchanged XI today. Not very confident today, think we havenât played anyone particularly good yet.
Well that was one way to kick-off, I guess
Still not convinced by Rojas. Siemsen scores that
Disappointing finish indeed, but good early signs. This is an important one to win for the girls, can put us well ahead of the pack.
Shay Hollman, sibling of Corey and Jake, on the bench for us today. Hollman dynasty
Brilliant save from Jada
Whyman has been a machine.
Great assist from Ibini, great finish from Satchell.
Not bad, 2-0 up without both starting strikers present.
That is such a good finish from Lowe. Fooled the keeper with that.
Not a very convincing start to the half.
3-0. Weâre a cut or two above the rest at the moment.
