Eh, I think its a two stop strategy here. Its too hot, and the tyre wear is historically pretty high for this track. LOL if Hamilton gets ahead of Verstappen in this pit sequence.

Yeah, you’re right.
Second set of hards is the way to go.
Just don’t let Lando undercut.
McLaren need to pit both cars now.
And there’s the hatchet job.
Go and get fucked.
I find it very, very unlikely Norris will give this up willingly. And McLaren are not stupid enough to ignore the fact that the undercut is so powerful right now.
Even if he gives it up there is no way he is backing off after
Piastri to Ferrari when Lewis is done is what I’m getting out of this.
McLaren proving that they’re a small time team yet again.
If they really want Oscar to stay ahead, they had to pit him first. It’s such a strange way to handle this, and one driver will be understandably upset about the outcome.
Norris might well be cooking his tyres too much, anyway, so this may not be over.
They needed to pit Nando first to secure the 1 2.
Nando is being a cunt although maximum points is what he should get given Max’s struggles.
If I’m Piastri though, if the positions aren’t reversed, I wreck both cars after the flag.
I’m pretty sure Norris had 5+ seconds in hand over Hamilton when he was called in. I don’t buy the covering Hamilton story, to be honest. I’ve heard plenty of bullshit in my ~30 years of watching F1 and this smells of the same thing.
Obviously the circumstances make a difference but I don’t really want to see Oscar’s first win come with Lando dropping off 5s in the last lap.
Piastri would be wise to do nothing but watch the backlash on Norris from the team. Play the long game. He’s so calm that I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s exactly what he did.
At least Verstappen’s histrionics are partially making up for the McLaren mess.
But that’s the point of bringing Lando in first. Cover that 5 seconds then let Oscar through.
It gives you 5 second stops for both drivers.
This has all the hallmarks of Schumacher in Japan and stopping at the end for Eddie Irvine.
Norris ended up moving over, but I wonder if there’s still going to be some recriminations. Norris really pushed buttons with the team he shouldn’t be pushing, which is likely to work in Piastri’s favour long-term.
I feel sad.
Fuck you Lando.
Grats to Piastri. The first of many wins, I suspect. The kid has something special, although he would admit this wasn’t his cleanest race.
But tonight is kind of proving why F2 and even F3 are better to watch these days. Almost no driver politics or team orders in either of those categories.
Just highlights, so I might be missing something.
Norris got in front on strategy. Piastri winning after being handed back the lead feels hollow.
Max is back big time thou. Flat track bully.
I’d say you got it all in one. The fact Norris dragged his feet like a bratty child meant Piastri couldn’t really enjoy that win.
You should listen to some of Max’s team radio, especially later in the race. Even Lambiase called his behaviour childish!
