Big assumption that Ricciardo will keep his seat there
Big assumption that Ricciardo will keep his seat there
Haha probably should have chosen my words better. *would be awesome
Hey Perez has the rest of the season to lose that seat
My bold prediction is Perez gets the arse on the 28th October.
Immediately after Mexico… question is will McLaren be in the lead by then.
I’d have thought an alternative might have been to promote Dan for the next few races, but guaranteed Segio Mexico and Brazil (following race).
Also allows you to put Lawson in the VCARB again
Would be a good move to get him, great driver
I like it because he;s very good and that’s once less driver in Scotty Mac’s way.
And the Sauber sucks so he’s not getting in Oscar and Lando’s way.
Indycar was back this morning, interesting race with a crazy mix of strategies and a touch of controversy thrown in for fun
So asymmetrical braking systems are now banned in F1. The thing that stinks about this is that apparently no teams were using the system, so why ban it? It smacks of another episode of someone getting caught using it, they quietly were asked to remove it before they banned it, so they don’t get docked wins/constructors points. Same thing happened with Ferrari bending/breaking the rules with their engine a few years back.
From what I understand, they can’t technically prove it, but Red Bull was suggested to be using it in Melbourne. They’re saying it was extremely strange that only a single brake failed during Verstappen’s race. There’s also suggestions that removing the asymmetrical breaking, coincides with them removing it completely and then Perez’s drop in form. Don’t think it’s anything that dodgy, apart from them specifically closing a loophole that was slightly open ended.
I’d read that it was down to Max complaining about it that they removed it in the first place
Seems like a good idea for motorsport in general & something that all teams would do. Why ban it?
edit - This is interesting. Seems as though McLaren had it in 97/98
What was really behind the FIA’s F1 asymmetric brake rule change (motorsport.com)
There’s a suggestion that it just came up in review for the 2026 rule changes and everyone had forgotten about it so F1 reminded everyone … naturally.
What I don’t get about F1 atm is that it’s meant to be about technological advancement and driver skill. Yet everything that could actually be a practical technological advancement, like active suspension, ABS, etc etc is banned because it reduces the level of required skill.
All the technological advancements they make are in aero (useless in a road car) and hybrid drive trains (going to be superseded in the next decade).
Unprecedented to have four Aussies in F1. Doohan, Piastri, Danny Ric and Valterri “mad cunt” Bottas.
Speaking of Aussies in F1, my new favourite trivia question. Five Aussies have won an F1 race – Jack Brabham, Alan Jones, Mark Webber, Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri but SIX have won podiums. Which Aussie driver has won an F1 podium but not a race?
Ricciardo being in F1 next season is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
Tim Schenken
Correctamundo.
3rd in the 1971 Austrian GP, driving a Brabham.
It’s a shame his achievements in Motorsport are so unknown.
Vern Schuppan needs more love.
