The NRL Thread- Everyone gets a coach

Wow, it’s really those you least expect sometimes.

And sometimes it’s the outright cunts

Paul Kent was covering a court case I was involved in a little over 10 years ago.
I had a few decent chats with him while waiting to give evidence. It was around the time that spot fixing was the big issue facing professional sport. The Pakistani fast bowler had just been done after bowling a no-ball where he landed about a metre outside of the crease.
It was also not long after an incident in the NRL where a Canterbury player deliberately gave away a penalty in front of the posts against North Queensland. The intended outcome was that North Queensland were to take the shot at goal however they took a quick tap and scored a try.
Paul Kent had an interesting account on this. It basically revolved around a certain player who was in on the plan and would have taken the shot at goal however he wasn’t on the field at the time as the coach, not on on the plan, started him on the bench, something that this player never did.

If he’s convicted of this he is definitely a cunt, but people who get mad at his on-screen persona baffle me. He’s just playing a character, no way he’s that antagonistic in real life.

Maybe this is part of his on-screen persona as well? Spare me, please.

The entire premise of NRL360 is for the panelists to yell at each other and gin up controversy. It’s an act.

Still a cunt…

Just because you pretend to be a cnt, doesn’t prevent you from being a cnt. In fact it’s worse as your using outrage and adding fuel to fire, not caring if it affects other individuals, purely for personal fame.

Which is exactly why Paul Kent said in August last year after Geyer told off Ricky Stuart for his “weak-gutted dog” comments about Jaeman Salmon:

"And this is also the same Geyer who was involved in suing a social influencer for mistakenly identifying his daughter as the victim in a sex video. Given that, it might be fair to assume he knows how emotions roll when family is involved. Still …”

Do you still think this is all on-screen persona?

“Paul Kent has said it’s his turn in the “rugby league soap opera” after he was charged on the weekend with two domestic violence-related offences.”

Fuck this absolute cunt, shoot him into the sun.

thoroughly enjoying the players reactions to the little fuck stain

“If that was a player there would be 15 stories with very little facts & cameras at their house,” former Dragons, Eels and Cowboys hooker Cameron King tweeted.

Bulldogs and Roosters great Sonny Bill Williams said Kent “never shone away from pointing the finger” at players and questioned their morals when they made mistakes.

“Someone who has always held the players accountable for their actions off the field needs to be held to account for his also,” Williams tweeted.

Veteran halfback James Maloney said assaulting women was “the lowest of the low”.

“I hope he is treated exactly as a player would be. His job makes him a public figure in the game so there’s no difference,” Maloney tweeted.

Also, how the telegraph is dealing with it (sums them up)

“Kent’s arrest was not reported in the Saturday edition of his newspaper, a note below his regular column slot explained he was “on leave”. The paper prominently reported an apprehended violence order taken out against former Dragons forward Trent Merrin in the same edition.”

The only problem is, if he is treated like a player as Moloney suggests, he will just get a slap on the wrist probably

It’s important to claim mental health when you behave like a fucking scumbag.

It’s the greatest non-excuse ever invented.

Real rivalry. Not that fake rubbish those sokka hooligans dish up

Two days before ALM play a grand final on the same pitch

Just put on the NRL - Rooster wearing an indigenous jersey (Dark blue) playing the dragons in their indigenous shirt (black and dark red)

the only clear differentiator are the shorts and socks but I don’t get why the dragons aren’t in a primarily white shirt???

It kinda matters a little less in a sport when the players spend most of their time in opposing straight lines

Sunday at Wentworth Park if anyone fancies a fix of good old rugby league without too much of the gaga that goes with the NRL.

Four games going on for the cost of ten beans to get in.

10am Glebe vs Wentworthville (Sydney Shield)

11.45am Sydney Roosters vs Cronulla Sharks (Jersey Flegg)

1.15pm Glebe vs Wentworthville (Ron Massey Cup)

3.15pm Sydney Roosters vs Newtown Jets (NSW Cup)
