I have a Fenix 5 that I’ve had for years and it’s never given me any real issues.
Forerunners are the go to if running is your main thing.

I had the older version of the 55 and it was great. The heart rate monitor eventually caved in but it was a such a huge upgrade on the Fitbit.
Have now got a 245 which i also love. I could never figure out how to load music though not that it matters though
Got the forerunner 55 a few months back as a first fitness watch. Think its great for what it is and would definitely recommend as a cheaper but still very good one.
Been trying to get back into running. From regularly doing 5ks on the treadmill well into the low 30 mins in the football offseason, fitness has fallen off immensely. Been working on getting back into things.
Ordered a Forerunner 55 in the end.
After the half marathon, I’ve decided to focus on 5k for a bit. Ran it in 23:19 the other day. Hoping to get back to my PB of just under 22 mins.
Finally starting to get into a bit of a routine again the last 2 weeks after being pretty slack so far this year due to being busy. Have managed to do 40km in that time and seeing a good increase in my pace in just 2 weeks. Improved by 30 seconds per km in that time and did my best 5km time in over a year this morning. I’m still really slow and way off the pace I used to manage (6:40 min/km compared to around 4:50 min/km) but feels good to be making some progress. Old injuries are feeling ok so far as well, just some lactic acid building up badly around 4km in.
I’m doing 4x5km per week with the aim of getting that up to 3x6km plus a longer run on a Saturday morning of 10km+, I was doing that back in late 2021 and really enjoyed it, especially the longer run where I would do 15-20km
Amazing!
I’m making use of time off work and running more.
Did 10k a couple of weeks ago, in 49:35.
Last Saturday, did 10k in 47:14. Crazy how quickly your body adapts to just a bit of training.
Only issue for me is trying to find a flat route. I live in a very hilly area. Love hill runs but not good for time trials!
Solid 10k times! Would love to be able to get back under 50 mins again one day.
I’m trying to push through that barrier where it is difficult to finish a 5k to suddenly actually enjoying the runs and looking forward to them, that’s when it’s great for your mental wellbeing.
You live around Dulwich area right? It is quite hilly around there. My area isn’t too hilly, a couple of long low gradient hills though that are a struggle.
Not too far from Dulwich. I live in Upper Sydenham, pretty much in between Forest Hill and Crystal Palace.
The hills in around Crystal Palace are a particular killer.
Got an entry into city to surf if anyone is interested. I realised I wont be able to make it. Would need to pick up bib. Happy to accept for a fee donated straight to charity
Heading to Selhurst park for the first time this weekend, literally never been to that area of London before (Islington champagne socialist)
Assuming for a Palace match?
The only reason to go to Selhurst. It’s pretty grim haha.
Yep to the pre-season friendly vs Nantes
Managed to do a sub 22 min 5k!
Hoping to do 10k in 45 mins by the time i do the ‘We Run Rome’ run on new year’s eve.
That’s a mental time, I did 33 mins this morning
I did my first run today since the 8th of July.
Hurt my back, lots of rest, physio and pain meds since then.
Made it through 5k in about 25 minutes and didn’t die.
Let’s see how I feel after a night shift tonight
Have been struggling with motivation for cycling. Decided to go for a run yesterday with a mate, very slow (avg 7 min ks). Fuck am I sore today. Was only 6.5km, but felt pretty good - the last 500m could tell I was getting a bit sloppy in terms of form.
Seem to have tweaked my calf too, hopefully I can walk it off today.
Still going strong after around 4 weeks of getting back into the running.
Down to 6:18 per/km this morning, so almost 1 min per/km better than 4 weeks ago.
Once I get down to under 30 mins for 5km, I’ll try to start going a little further, maybe 6km. Recovery time is also much quicker now too, don’t feel sore at all afterwards and the following day.
Don’t stress too much about the pace, you want most of your runs to be easy, very easy.
Even elite marathon runners do most of their training runs at conversation pace.
Concentrate more on the length of runs slowly increasing while staying at an easy pace.
