The TV Show Thread

Im halfway through and enjoying it on the most parts. I’m finding the wedding scene definitely dragged on a bit too much and that whole wedding arc was a bit random in general, with a fair bit of focus hitting it (not sure if it’s linked to later episodes).

I would say it isn’t directly linked but is important for how it changes Mon Mothma.

Did the exact same thing and also added a few Rebels episodes in as well.

I enjoyed season 1, but as somebody who has watched all the cartoons and read a bunch of the books, I found season 1 was largely covering old ground and didnt add too much to the universe. I also felt it was a little slow at times.

But with season 2, the characters had grown on me even more and i felt really invested in all of their arcs. Including Syril, Deedra and the other empire staff. The last two batches of episodes in particular were brilliant. Luthen and Kleya were absolutely superb characters and portrayed beautifully.

Andor was probably the best new tv show ive seen in a number of years. Im sorry its over and I am naively hoping that the next Disney projects hit these heights. This is how good it can be!

Started watching S1 of The Shield. Finally got around to it after plenty of recommendations.

About 6 episodes in, it’s good but it’s not really as good as I was hoping it’d be.

I know the show started in '02, but I can see where a lot of big name TV actors used this as a platform to kickstart their careers:

  • Waltor Goggins
  • Kenny Johnson
  • CCH Pounder
  • Michael Kelly

To name a few.

Season 1 is patchy, it gets better through S2&3 and kills in 4&5 when Glenn Close shows up.

The Last Of Us just seems like prestige The Walking Dead to me now in S2

Finished Andor. It’s really random, but I love the fact that they didn’t culminate in a massive battle or anything like that. They were just telling the story rather than doing any huge grandstanding. It integrates it so much better with Rogue One.

In saying that, the whole wedding story really does feel almost pointless/out of place. Yes you can see it affected Mon, but it was completely overshadowed later on by everything else happening.

My take is it is pretty much the nexus point where her daughter ends their relationship and her husband chooses hedonisim which severs their relationship and what still tied her to her position of privilege which allows her to go all in on the Rebellion.

Tay Kolma needing to be silenced and the interaction with Luthen where he calls out her pretending to not know what he means is the beginning of her stepping into a more direct participant in the Rebellion

The drinking and dancing at the end I took to be Mon letting go and to kill the pain and guilt for allowing Tay to be killed.

Bad thoughts on Netflix.

You’re either going to think it’s 0 or 10/10

Best line from Real Housewives of Sydney 3 aka Double Bay Drama “The last train to giveafuckistan is about to leave the station & I havn’t even packed yet”

I’ve tried my best, but I’m well and truly over the enshittyfication of all the streaming apps. Disney+ is the latest one to stop password sharing, and all of them keep jacking up the price for less and less content.

Who’s on the IPTV train, and what do you recommend? Live sport is a necessity!

4k Service- Best IPTV subscription in the market!

Used them for the past 4 years, they disappear for a week or so once in a while but always come back

19000 channels, all the sport you can shake a shitty stick at

How do you watch it on your TV? Does it have an app or do you cast it etc?

Most smart tvs have plenty of iptv apps you can use (Samsung have 4-5)

MobLand episode ten was the cherry on the cake for an excellent series, the best of the ten.

For all the outstanding actors and their performances in this show Paddy Considine really outshines them all. He is a seriously good actor.

It’s a few years old now but I have only just started watching and instantly a huge fan of “Upstart Crow” British sitcom starring David Mitchell as William Shakespeare, a struggling playwright on the verge of hitting the bigtime. It’s got very Blackadder energy (written and developed by Ben Elton) and the stories and language are so much fun.

Just watched the finale now over dinner.

Has been an excellent first season and sets up the sequel brilliantly.

Really good show. All the characters have really strong backgrounds, even if they’re just minor characters (Kikos desth for example hits hard, even though he’s had only like 3 lines throughout the entire season).

Also liking the character development on minor characters. Harry’s wife, for example, slowly but surely has grown her role quietly, and I suspect she’s going to have a massive part to play come season 2.

I did however see the Eddie Harrigan plot twist coming a mile off.

But yeah, great show. Can’t wait for Season 2

Binged it all. Loved it. Occasionally still go to sleep putting it on.

I tend to find Mitchell interesting when i’m awake and boring enough when needing to relax.

His other show where he is a detective is a good one too. Ludwig.

Agree on Mobland, although there were a few parts where it asks you to suspend your disbelief for a bit.

E.g. when Richie Stevenson shoot two cops in his bar and were expected to believe that nobody saw them go in or could trace their cell phones etc.

But I’m a sucker for Tom Hardy, and the rest of the star cast, so I’m ok to see past some of that.

Also just finished Andor. Fucking tops. Need to rewatch Rogue One, ASAP.

Edit: Fontaines Starburster as the intro song for Mobland absolutely slaps.

If you like David Mitchell try watching Ludwig.
