I just caved in and bought a ROG Ally Z1 Extreme handheld gaming PC.
It’s the tits, runs Win 11. has a gorgeous screen and seems to run everything I want it to.
There were a lot of complaints about it when it first came out but it seems most of the bugs have been dealt with.
Yeah I got one last year essentially to be a mini PC at home and to use while traveling instead of a laptop. It’s pretty impressive. My only complaint was that it didn’t come with a case or dock - and they didn’t even have them available as accessories to buy when I bought it. Crazy. I got a dock from amazon and it does the job.
I had been thinking of a Steam Deck but wanted a windows based one.
One downside is that apparently ASUS are being fuckwits about warranty repairs - but nothing new there really.
yeah, but that seems to be a US thing, customer protection in AU is far stronger.
The Steam Deck rules dude. I don’t miss Windows one bit on that thing.
With the ROG Ally, can you press a button for instant sleep and resume?
Effectively yes, the power button puts the device to sleep and when pressed again it goes back to where you were on any game (except live service games) once you’ve passed the windows 11 login screen, which is done with the fingerprint sensor on the power button…
I think I’m on my 4th play through now, first 2 was just trying to work it all out, then when the new patch came out I started a 4th.
I’ve not really had any problems upgrading due to tavern supply. In my current game I am in a region with terrible soil, especially for Barley, but I am importing it via trade and just now starting to import via bartering with another town I’ve set up to specialise in food production/barley/flax. I just set the trade limit to 100 for barley and it’s constantly importing, that and meat are the only things I need to import though and I’m exporting a shit load of weapons (high iron deposit region) so my cash is around 20k and increasing.
I find importing Barley has been better than importing Malt, seems like 1 Barley gives you 2 Malt. You don’t even need a tonne of Ale to upgrade, as long as there is currently some in the Tavern, you should be able to start upgrading nearby level 2 houses.
That’s good Intel.
Edit: that is not a pun. I’m sure those things are AMD powered.
Been hearing good things about Season 4, might jump back in and check it out.
Thanks for those that did for the Dishonored recommendation.
That was a fun $5.
I finished with low chaos and ushered in a golden age!
Gonna do a chaos run?
At some point.
I’m umming and ahhing between going back into it now or playing AC Rogue.
Or, I don’t know, touching grass.
Number 2 is really good too. Plus dont forget the expansions
If you like Dishonoured, I wonder if youd like Prey (2017).
Same developer, roughly the same “immersive sim” style though maybe a bit less action focused, but a much better and more interesting game…
Not at all similar to those games, I’m playing 1000xResist.
It is wonderful. Very light on the action, mostly just exploration and very light puzzles, but great science fiction and great character work. The teenage angst is top notch.
Definitely some nerd shit but I very much recommend.
Cheers. If it’s not PS3 … I’ll have to steal the PS4 off the nephews!
I started Rogue, so I think that’s all the PS3 AC games so I’ll probably look at getting another console.
Or just go through PS3 games for $5 off of eBay.
I tried out Elden Ring.
Love the design
Love the ‘open’ world concept
Enjoying the progression model
Not really liking the random distribution of difficulty
Not really enjoying the grind.
Combat seems a bit simplistic on the player side.
Its miles better than the Souls games, removing the linear sequences means there’s none of the horrific roadblocks that happened in the souls games.
The fucking stalkers in AC Rogue.
Fuck me fucking dead. Which dumb cunt came up with that idea?
The combat isn’t particularly complex for any one character but it’s pretty wild how much a different weapon or stat distribution can change the game.
But the real joy comes from the world. There’s no other developer able (or willing?) to do what From can do with their world-building. I’m building a new character at the moment to get ready for the DLC and there are so many little nuances I’m rediscovering or noticing for the first time with the benefit of hindsight.
Me too. 50 hours in, and barely scratched the surface.
